Gosh, times have changed, now every game is a dog fight. But wouldn't you rather see a 24-17 type game then a 35-7 wipeout?

I like SC, 24-17; the odds favor them by 15 to 16, a bit high I believe, but if Troy loses I don't want to read this blog late Saturday night!

In watching TROJAN REWIND I was surprised how close USC was to winning this game. All it would have took was eliminating one or two costly errors.
Converting the 4th and 1; not throwing a 2nd and 1 INT; Havili's fumble.
USC was right there in front of a hostile crowd, with a backup QB, and facing an unstroppable Duck offense.

Ok......Ok.......
By now I am sure it is obvious that I am a bitter Trojan Fan. Well.....the truth is I have not been laid in a couple years now and Trojan Football is really my only avenue to vent my anger and frustration. I really wish I had a life soooo.... I want to apologize to anyone I may have hurt and/or offended with all my pent up sarcastic anger. At this point all I really want and need is a nice strong hug!
Sincerely, USC1966

Good point Trojan&Tonic. We're not as bad as many of us think. Not as good offensively as '05 but still good. Everyone else has gotten better and it only takes a couple mistakes to lose a game now.

I can understand your problem ol '66', I once went 10-days without any and it almost cost me my sanity, so I cannot imagine where your head is at. But what a perfect time for you-- get your head into the Beavers tomorrow. (Oh, oh, do I hear the moral police?)

Obviously came from Harbaugh if it's the head coach. I think this statement is an indictment of Sarkisian conservative style. Sark, this guy whipped you at home ... are you going to "man-up" on this one?

Hey USC1966:
Finally, a mea culpa, eh? Sorry to hear about the personal issues. We are all frustrated, upset, etc. about this year, given the lofty expectations and recent history. We have all expressed criticism this year about coaches, players, execution, refs, etc. Most do so in a constructive fashion.
However, when you crumble to the level of "USC is a garbage program," "I hope players leave the program," "Pete Carroll should be fired, he sucks as a coach" and similar vitriole, you are not a true fan, regardless of a university degree.
If it was up to me (and I'm sure others), you would be ex-communicated from USC fandom. I suggest keeping the criticism constructive, not destructive.
I'll get off the soap box now. Thank you.

Hey Lawyer John:
I can't handle the close games. I'll take a 35-7 romp any day of the week.
This week, however, will be close.

Go easy on USC1966 ... we all wander off the reservation now and then. My suggestion to him would be to settle in, pop a blue pill, and watch the game (not necessarily in that order).

The truth is that no only should SC have beat Oregon, the Trojans should have won by 10 or more.
The first muffed punt with SC having the ball so deep in Oregon territory and not getting points was huge. That was a HUGE coaching blunder. On the road, take the points, get the FG and get your team ahead. They are free points at the that time of the game. TAKE THEM!
The second turnover and not getting a TD was also a mishap. You have to have prepared for the quick change, based on distance from the goal line, there should be a three play list for each level. The play caller than just chooses from feel at that point. Closer you are to the goal line, the play script gets smaller; two plays, both quick strikes and both at the end zone. That was never done.
OSU run defense is tough. They have to think that they have the advantage here. Within the first three plays on the script you have to stretch the defense both horizontally and vertically. Spread 'em out, go run the bubble screen. Spread 'em out, run it right up the middle to catch them in the blitz. Double tight, two back, one WR, two player route, make the safety decide. 7-0 Trojans.

I know you don't always agree with me, especially regarding enjoying SC games, win or lose. But read Booty's comments in the L.A. Times today about how he loves the wins and the losses, and how he is taking it all in (the SC experience).
My sentiments exactly.

Did anyone read TrojanBobcat's book?
It sounds a bit narcistic, but if you remove the author from the equation, it becomes plausible. USC is off balance because of litigation, NCAA monkey on it's back, and unrealistic expectations...
not sure about the rest...

Hey Lawyer John:
Booty didn't exactly say he is enjoying the losses; rather, he is enjoying the experience of playing college football and campus life, regardless of the wins and losses. That shows perspective and maturity, no doubt. (Not so sure that he should be out drinking after the Stanford loss....)
Let me ask you this: When USC lost to Texas, were you numb after the game, and, at least, the day after? Or were you happy because that was one hell of a competitive and thrilling game?
I agree that you have perspective insofar as you don't fly so high after a win nor sink so low after a loss. But there still remains a difference between the two, right?

"In watching TROJAN REWIND I was surprised how close USC was to winning this game."
I was going to say the same exact thing. When I watch our losses in retrospect I always see numerous plays that would have led to our victory if we would have just converted, and the Oregon game was no exception. In fact, I had a higher opinion of UO before we played them (if that makes sense). I wish Pete would have just crowded the box, dared Oregon to throw, tackled Stewart and Dixon on every single play. I guess it was not to be.
If the Trojans just start executing this week, they could roll the Beavers. If not, I could see the Beavs winning the game. We'll see what SC team shows up on Saturday. If it's the disciplined team that plays hard and takes chances on both sides of the ball (a la 03-05) I like our chances.

That MUST have been Harbaugh. Wolfie, do you ever post the answer to your open ended forum questions?
Now, as a diehard fan, I am an ETERNAL optimist, much to my chagrin on occasion (this season!). And, I am not JDB's biggest fan on the field, although I respect the crap out of him off the field. Having said that, AT LEAST we are making some meaningful adjustments this week.....shotgun, man-to-man, wide open playbook. And, the WRs did have a great game last week AND supposedly Stafon is 100% this week. And, the D really should DOMINATE the Beavs. So, I say 23-6 Trojans, but only IF PC learns to take the FG and Booty doesn't take more than 3 sacks and throws less than 2 picks. I believe our Def will have a breakthrough game forcing 4 TOs, and IF we realize that FGs actually count on the scoreboard, then Buehler kicks 3 of them, the D dominates, and Booty, Stafon, Freddie, Vidal, Stanley, and Patrick put it in the endzone twice off of OSU TOs.
23-6 Lick the Beavers! Buehler for Groza!

That is code for "Dear trojanbobcat, I read your last e-mail, but cannot reply due to my confidentiality clause and Mike Garrett screening all my outgoing e-mail." Don't read anything else into it.

First Oregon was missing both starting receivers and one of the two tailbacks it uses in it's two back rotation and trust me, they don't have AA players in either pos 6 players deep. They also had O-Line injuries and fumbled early too so that loss was simply another embarrassment. Oregon pulled it off because of "coaching". I know that isn't a word we have been familiar with lately; even our players see it, to the point that they are PUBLICLY talking about it (so can you imagine behind closed doors?) And a coach is a professional, so if someone says a coach should be fired, no prob. I think an alum is a bit more TF than a multi-million dollar employee who will be out just as soon as a better situation presents itself.
