2004 Vs. 2007
Last weekend, Pete Carroll called this year's defense the best he's had at USC. A little later, he said he preferred the 2004 defense for its ability to create turnovers. Another way of looking at it is looking at a couple linebackers, Matt Grootegoed and Lofa Tatupu.
Grootegoed is not the physical specimen or NFL prospect that Keith Rivers is, but he is a more instinctive football player. Tatupu is flourishing in the NFL despite not being as physically imposing as Rey Maualuga, but he also has superior instincts.
So with that in mind, we'll take the 2004 defense too.

Apples and oranges, they were both good.
Now on to something relevant, like hoops. Where do I turn on this blog for SC basketball commentary? I went to he game at Galen against Kansas, the crowd was rocking, and our team fights hard. And last night against Memphis the game was remindful of a March Madness tournament game. If Kansas and Memphis are indeed Top-5 teams, then the Trojans are not far behind. Could we win a national championship this year?-- Jefferson and Mayo (if they can improve their shooting) can carry this team. Taj is a presence and Hackett is very heady. They deserve our support and our voices.
Lawyer John,
There is more than ample Basketball Yak on Conquest Chronicles.

You're right BUT I'm with the lawyer on this one. Like Dick Vitale said the Trojans roundball team is growing. The team deserves all they can get. Who would have thought that the Trojans football school is competitively making noise with a roundball? Please take this team seriously. Dribble, pass and shoot the hoop baby-it's show time it's Mayo time!
we are one big man away from being a top 5 team
