Discuss The Game

We already knew UCLA had no offense, but USC is not exactly making a smashing bid to shoot up the BCS rankings.

Questionable play calling by Sark and inconsistency by JD. All in all though, the PAC 10 Championships again rides high at USC.

Geez, we really sucked but it was still sooooo easy! Fight On! to the Rose Bowl.
If it's not Ohio St..I hope that it's Georgia!

More crappy play calling. I would love to know the line of reasoning goes through Sarkisian's mind when he decides to run McKnight up the middle on 3rd and 18.

Defense was lights out though and the offense obviously played well enough to win. Good game all around.

Adieu, koach Karl.

Sark, you may have an interest in the following classified ad:

HEAD COACH WANTED - Previous Offensive Coordinator and/or Asst. Head Coach experience preferred. Demonstrated offensive philosophy should emphasize a "horizontal" passing game where receiver routes don't exceed five yards. An unconventional willingness to run on obvious passing downs (eg, 3rd & 18 or 3rd & 9) is a plus. Play-calling must defy explanation. Salary begins at $3 million per annum and relocation necessary. Inquire within.

yep..hit the nail on the head

USC needed a statement game, running UCLA off the field and winning by 30 points and hitting on all cylinders..passing running special teams..

instead we got more warmed over Sarkisian crap...bubble screens, runs on 3rd and 14...dropped passes penalties botched snaps missed field goals...horrible game by JDB again...and PC is talking about the NC and the players are partying on the sidelines.

Goodbye JDB don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out, and you can take your tipped passes with you. He will never make it in the NFL. In the pay for play league you HAVE to be able to throw the long ball which he cannot. He is the specialist of cranking it up and gunning the 4 yard pass in the flat at 100 mph.

More fumbles by McKnight..maybe LSU should of kept him too..

Hopefully next year Mustain will have the team playing better.

If they want to get back to the NC game they need 3 things:

1. Get rid of JDB

He is gone so we are set there

2. Take some of the play calling away from Sarkisian. He is way too predictable and makes bad calls.

3. They have to get rid of the country club atmosphere. Every season is the same--they come out the first few games not trying hard because they read their press clippings all summer. Then they lose a game or 2, and turn it on. And then we are back a to "just wait until next year!" again. Same thing I heard after the Texas loss and the UCLA loss.

funny, I'm watching, what you have called an elite team, look absolutely terrible against a joke of a Pitt team.

Wake up Scott...no team this year is ELITE-but we may be closest to having that adjective

I have it on good authority from Kirk Herbstreit that Sark is considering the previous coaching opening. I've been commissioned to head up the search for his possible replacement (see below).

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR WANTED - Private, high-profile, nationally-ranked program with football-rich tradition and talent-laden squad seeks qualified OC. Experience with multi-dimensional, pro-style system required. Must be willing to work with an abundance of prospective NFL-caliber talent including strong-armed quarterbacks and big, fast, athletic receivers as well as multi-talented runners and big, earth-moving linemen. Ability to mentor and groom a talented group of quarterbacks a major plus. Initials N.C. preferred (all is forgiven), but not required. Ask for Pete.

Scott...any quotes from the gang of recruits that were with the team today? Specifically CB Patrick Johnson from Fla or LB Arthur Brown from Ks? or Jurrel Casey from LB Poly?

You guys do realize that USC basically rose from the grave to win it's 6th consecutive title, don't you? Jesus, show a little pride in your team.

Very proud of the school and the team/players who've risen from the grave despite the offensive play-calling.

Come on Scott vote them number 2. Everyone should lobby Scott to do the same.

I'm very proud of the victory tonight. Our team did come back from the grave to win the Pac 10 title.

Just remember guys. You can't spell FUCLA without UCLA. Fight on!

We won the game by 17 points. Sark didn't drop a bunch of balls, did he? I also disagree with a few of the calls, but liked the fact that we went down the field more (although the pick was horrible). We ran for about 250 yards. We blew numerous scoring oppurtunities (4th and 1, missed FG, McKnight fumble) Still, a win is a win is a win.

I do believe USC could beat any team in the country. However, they are already lobbying for LSU-Ohio St. match-up. Yuck. Georgia shouldn't go b/c it didn't win a division title, let alone conf championship. Kansas is barred for the same reason, plus Missouri lost. Oklahoma should be rated ahead of both, but probably won't.

This is my prediction:

1. OSU
2. LSU
3. Georgia
4. Kansas
5. Va. Tech.
6. USC
7. Oklahoma
8. Missouri
9. W. Va.
10. Florida

As usual, a sensible posting by uscmike. But that game yesterday was boring, and I left at halftime. The second half on t.v. was worse. Sorry, but I like entertainment, and that was not top-notch. ucla is 4-years away, at least, from being competitive.

SC-ucla is no longer a rivalry, much as basketball is not a rivalry. But we are beginning to make strides at Galen (finally a home court advantage), and I am leaving now for the big game with Kansas.

When SW polled the ? which player will make the biggest impact you and sureshot went with JDB. I went with CW. I also stated that you need the running game to open the passing game. Here's the running game breakdown:
-Joe MCNight 89 yds
-STfon Johnson 73yds
-Chauncey W'tn 66yds
If you add those three it totals to 228 yds. You are playing Monday Morning QB and changed your tune. What's with that?
