About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Hey Scott,
I was at MSG tuesday night to see the basketball game and noticed that OJ is not 6feet5inches (not even close?) How tall do you think he is?
Also, how come i didnt see you nor Petros nor the song girls at MSG?
thanks for a great year scott, fight on
Each game I find myself amazed that on a 3rd and long on our side of the field (i.e. not 4 down territory) Sarkisian will call a run play. He's done this a number of times, and I'm not sure it has worked this season. Have you had a chance to ask Sark or PC why they don't try something new, like a pass play?
Scott, I just won the USC season ticket lottery and have two tickets to the Rose Bowl. Should I be happy?
It was well documented that SC had a number of high profile recruits come in for a visit this weekend and I'd love to hear any feedback on how SC did with the recruits...primarily on Arthur Brown and Patrick Johnson. Thanks!
How good would Maulauga be if he had Tatupu's instincts, and how good would Tatupu be if he had Maulauga's size?
During JDB's injury, much was made of the fact that he was still suiting up on game day and could go in "if we need him". Did the coaches ever envision a scenario (other than Sanchez getting knocked out of the game by injury himself) where that would have made sense? Or were those comments more for show than for go?
And on a related note, now that the dust has settled, do yo believe there was ever a realistic chance of JDB losing his starting position after getting healthy (say, if Sanchez had dominated Oregon)?
You said that at the Coliseum Commission meeting that things seem to be moving towards a compromise. Where do you think the parties end up? (BTW, I notice that the mayor's seven-point declaration calls on SC to contribute money to the facility upgrades but is oddly silent on giving the school more control over the venue...)
JAM:
You also won a pacifier for being such a good behaved little boy...
How many starters do you anticipate we return on each side of the ball next year?
During practices, how often does Pete Carroll actually get to see Mitch Mustain in action?
Do you think any of the Heisman voters have seen Colt Brennan play?
What coaches are considering UCLA, and who do you think will take the job??
Scott:
What is your opinion on whether Mitch Mustain is a good QB in the pocket or not?
scott, why are the polls on brian dohns site better than yours? does the daily news give him a bigger budget?
and what do i have to do to get paid to write about usc football?
With all of these coaching changes,in your opinion what percentage of assistant coaches have aspirations of becoming a head coach, and what percentage are content with just being assistants?

Hey Scott:
As a young homosexual who loves Trojan football, I was wondering when the male football community are going to start accepting fans like me and my partner (who is also a super huge Trojans fan)
Fight On!!
Scott, why are you so against the idea of USC running the Coliseum. Don't you realize how many government owned facilities are already managed and operated by private entities? It's not an unusual concept - take for example Caltech's management of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena (just up the road from SC's new home next year). Public management of the Coliseum has not done it much good the last 30 years considering the number of teams that have left and the amount of lost revenue from their departures.
Scott,
Going into next season, in addition to Stafon Johnson, SC has Allen Bradford, Broderick Green, and Marc Tyler who are big back-types. Have you seen anything from these three thus far that makes you think they can break into the backfield rotation next season?
Some of the Trojan players seem less than excited about playing in the Rose Bowl again. What will coaches do to make sure the players are well-prepared and energized?
With all the talk about the venue, what is the status of the Sports Arena? Does it make money? Any chance it will be torn down for multi-level parking?
Hey Scott:
What are your thoughts about the matchups in the Rose Bowl game (i.e., USC's offense v. Ill. defense and vice-versa)? What is your prediction of the score? Thanks.
Which tailback, or tailbacks, or most likely to switch position next year?
What is Josh Pinkard's outlook for next year?
Which tailback, or tailbacks, are mos likely to switch positions next year?
What is Josh Pinkard's outlook for next year?
What is the word on who possibly will be the big names filling out the rest of the recruiting class for next year? I like all of the OL commitments but I think there is still a need for DB,LB,and DT.
Thanks
Which of the position coaches do you think are the best? Which ones the weakest? Any future stars in our position coaching ranks.
Merry Christmas Scott!
Fight On!
Hey Scott,
You can disregard questions from "jack reid" and "mark boyich." We have a friend laying in bed for 6 weeks because he can't ride a bike properly and he has way too much time on his hands.
On a serious note, what are the chances that there will be a real "open" competition at the QB position next year? Is Sanchez going to get a majority of the snaps in the early going or will Mustain get a good solid crack at taking No.1 on the depth chart?
Uuhh, Mrtravlear726, I am sure you did not mean to be insulting to Mr. Wolf, wishing him a 'Merry Christmas', but I believe a 'Happy Hanukkah' would have been more appropriate, not to tread on sensitive territory.
Anyway, back to sports, what do you believe will be the compromised outcome, terms and conditions, between the Coliseum Commission and USC?
Hey Scott,
You can disregard questions from "jack reid" and "mark boyich." We've got some friends with way too much time on thier hands.
On a serious note, who looks best suited to replace Fred Davis next year?
Scott,
How come you have commented on the women's team making it to the final four for the first time ever? I was curious since you had sooooo much to say when they were trying to find a coach, and if I remember correctly Ali wasn't on your list for potential replacements. I think the reason for you not saying anything is that it violates your policy of never reporting ANYTHING positive when it comes to SC.
Hey Scott,
Please disregard comments from that homophobe and impostor, "markboyich". Obviously, there is a space between my first and last name and my in-the-closet partner's attempts at making me look straight so he does not appear to be a homosexual football fan as well are immature and hurtful. The question stands, please answer it at your leisure.

Scott:
With the exclusive announcement that the LA Coliseum will be renamed the Mitch Mustadium, this raises some serious questions:
1) Will the Mitch Mustadium not be the only real compromise that will unite both the Coliseum Commission and the folk from USC?
2) With the announcement that there will be a Mitch Mustadium, does that not signify that BOTH the Coliseum Commission and USC will be willing to spend in excess of $100 million each in order to do justice to such an important landmark that will honor our hero Mitch Mustain?
3) Will the
Scott:
With the exclusive announcement that the LA Coliseum will be renamed the Mitch Mustadium, this raises some serious questions:
1) Will the Mitch Mustadium not be the only real compromise and solution that will unite both the Coliseum Commission and the folk from USC?
2) With the announcement that there will be a Mitch Mustadium, does that not signify that BOTH the Coliseum Commission and USC will be willing to spend in excess of $100 million each in order to do justice to such an important landmark that will honor our hero Mitch Mustain?
3) Will the Mitch Mustadium be a renovation of the LA Coliseum or a brand new state of the art facility that can fully encompass the greatness that is our hero Mitch Mustain?
4) Will there be a statue of our hero Mitch Mustain at the entrance and the likeness of his face on the backs of every seat?
5) Will the funds for the Mitch Mustadium take away from the resources that have been dedicated to solving both Pedalgate and the Bicycle-Contra affair, or does this come out of a separate fund? You do realize that the person(...) who wishes to sabotage our hero Mitch Mustain must be stopped, don't you? That's the only way our hero Mitch Mustain will be denied his rightful place as the leader of the Trojans. And as we already have established, the is The Chosen One.
6) Will there be special LAPD bicycle officers on hand at the Mitch Mustadium?
We need to know these answers and how they relate to "Mitch & Me," especially since the book has now found yet another category where it can be shelved - architecture. Is there no limit for the categories this great book of our time will cover? Will it also not be under the children's section since our hero Mitch Mustain provides so much hope and inspiration for our youth?
Fight On!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS,SCOTT!!!
Hope I covered all bases with that salutation!
Suppose that in Feb.'08, the Trojans have 23 scholarships to give out, and by 2pm on signing day, everyone that they had possibly hoped to get have already faxed in their LOI'S, and all scholarships are gone. Then, at 3pm, they receive LOI'S from Scott and Jones, two 5 star guys that we had offered to, but had given up almost all hope of getting. Are we obligated to tell them they must grayshirt if they want to come to SC, or can we go back to any 2 guys that faxed their letters in earlier, and tell those guys that they will have to grayshirt if they want to come to SC? In other words, is it first come, first served, on signing day? THANX.
BTW, my question last week on the two Aggie linemen was somehow inadvertently overlooked,so maybe I get a make-up? If so, here it is--I know we have never played Illinois in the Rose Bowl, but have the 2 schools EVER met on the gridiron? THANX,WOLFIE
Hey Tirebiter:
Good to hear from you! I can answer the last question (away team is listed on left and home team is listed on right):
09/07/96: USC 55 - ILL 3
09/04/89: ILL 14 - USC 13
09/13/86: ILL 16 - USC 31
09/07/85: USC 20 - ILL 10
Thus, we are 3-1 vs. ILL... and about to be 4-1.
By the way, this website has a nice statistical breakdown of the Rose Bowl:

Fluor Tower ... your shtick is getting old....
Hi George, hi mike:
I got an email from a very objective journalist. After reading it it is obvious that this is the only blog where the usual suspects get the only attention they can get, coming from the one and only MM ambassador.
Hey mark boyich...Have you ever considered that probably no one who logs into this FOOTBALL BLOG actually gives a rats ass about your sexual preference?
i agree with Goliathtrojan
Who the hell is Mark Boyich?? No one wants to read about your gay lovers...i think there's a website Boi From Troy which might be a better fit for this guy.
Let me start off by saying that I'm as big of a Mitch Mustain fan as there is and all my Trojan friends who have seen him play in person think that he's the real deal. I have no reason to doubt them. Heck, I'm even looking forward to reading Mitch & Me!
So my question for you is this: I've heard he has a great on-field relationship with Damian Williams, who he's been teammates with since childhood and also with Brandon Carswell, while no other QBs have a particularly strong rapport with any receivers. So have you also been able to see these relationships and their beneficial effects from observing them in practice? Just how are these relationships positive in terms of on-field performance and has Pete Carroll noticed or commented on them?
So, Scott, thanks for this forum, it's always so darn informative and a definite must-read for any Trojan alumnus interested in USC sports.
Hey mark boyich...Have you ever considered that probably no one who logs into this FOOTBALL BLOG actually gives a rats ass about your sexual preference?
What was the deal with people during the UCLA game asking you to take their pictures on the Colisem sidelines? Do they not know with whom they are dealing? Sheesh...
its insensitive comments like gordon gecko and goliath trojan that really get me steamed!! :( I wanted Scott to tell me how me and my partner can better be assimilated into the Trojan football community. And by the way "Goliath", with a blog name like that i wouldnt be surprised if you had a Westhollywood address..Oh well, I dont care what these biggots say, you will see me at the Rose Bowl with my pink sequinced USC shirt on cheering my cute little ass off..
Fight On Boys!!
GOLIATHTROJAN---RIGHT ON!!
USCMIKE--THANX--LOL--IT'S SO FUNNY, I CAN EASILY RECALL BUDDY YOUNG OF ILLINOIS RUNNING WILD OVER FUCLA IN THE 1947 ROSE BOWL GAME 45-14--BUT I CAN'T RECALL OUR OWN TROJANS PLAYING THE FIGHTING ILLINI IN THE LAST 20 SOME YEARS.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE FIRST SIGN OF ALZHEIMERS IS?
I'M ASKING YOU CUZ I FORGOT WHAT IT IS!
Hi Scott:
Back to small print for you, as you requested--oh, the agony!-just kidding.
Since USCMIKE was kind enough to answer my possible make-up question from last week, let me try another--Do you think that, with the recruits we have yet to give us a verbal, will we go for the best player--or will we go for need--and, if it's need, what will it be, linemen? Does PC have a general philosophy on this? Thanx, Uncle Scottie
How come Aaron Corp gets to suit up for games while Mitch Mustain is in a sweatsuit? Will Mustain be allowed to suit up for the Rose Bowl or will he still be required to be in sweats?
And while we're at it, I hope you solve the bike bandit situation!!!! I think we all know who is behind it but there appears to be a sense of apprehension about naming him and outing the culprit.
Mr Boybitch...IT's not insensitivity! You are the one way out of line bringing up your personal BS into a USC FOOTBALL BLOG. I'm not here to read about anyones sexuality. I'm here to read about USC Football. I'm glad you are a Fight On Fan (or not). That's all I care about. However you assimilate into any society is your business, not mine or the other readers who come in here for SC FOOTBALL.
Goliathtrojan:
1. classless posting.
2. out of line.
3. having said one and two your credibility or whatever credibility you had you are now in hypocritical territory.
4. What does personal life have to do with the USC or CFB for that matter?
5. You attacked Mark Sánchez the same way which BTW did NOT get you anywhere.
6. ALL of it amounts to childish garbage...
i must say im personally offended. i am just as big a usc fan as the rest of you, but to call out whoever this mark boyich guy is is just flat out sickening...shmea shmea...i myself have been known to wear light purple sweaters to USC games and have not once been made fun of. Just because i go to these games for the tight pants as oppose to the score does not make me less of a man than any of you...shmea shmea...
When did this forum about mark boyich? noone cares if this guy likes to hold hands with some other guy...if the guy likes to S a little D, so what. this blog has turned into a bunch of queers, grow up and grow a pair.
Fight On!
Hey Scott,
I actually meant to ask you what you thought about the rumors going around that Pete Carrol condones and in fact encourages academic dishonesty? I have always had a hunch this guy had character issues and was a scumbag but this just crystallizes it for me. Dorrell didnt have the same winning percentage but at least he conducted himself with class and dignity. I would be happy if we had him next season instead of Pete Sterile.
Hey Trojan Faithful!
Thought this might be an excellent place for me to network and maybe make a few connections. I am a recent graduate of USC undergrad and currently attending law school, needless to say things have not gone my way. I worked really hard and did moderately well at the school I am attending, I went to all of the OCI info sessions that the career office put on as well. I even watched the old OCI info sessions basically with the same exact information online with real player. I wanted to really be prepared and I bought a new suit, shoes and a bunch of ties. I remember I would drive to the top floor of my parking structure and park there just so I could look at the downtown skyline. I used to think to myself while looking at the buildings, "Dave, you're going to work there when you graduate." I felt like if i kept telling myself this, one day it would be true. God, I was such an idiot back then. Well after the job process started, ended, and the rejection letters came pouring in this pipe dream of mine completely collapsed. So I guess what I am looking for is if anyone has any sort of legal connections that may be able to help me find a job, please let me know. I am appealing back to my Trojan brothers in hopes of securing some sort of gainful employment that does not involve being a Starbucks barista (my current job).
Sincerely,
David Comfort
Oh brother, it looks like we have a few who have strayed from the reservation ... right into the looney bin.

YOU ARE FULL OF CRAP AS USUAL! YOU ALSO DONT MATCH UP AND NEVER HAVE.. TO A LEVEL NECESSARY TO QUESTION MY CRED!
4. What does personal life have to do with the USC or CFB for that matter?
EXACTLY MY POINT MORON! NO ONE CARES ABOUT BOYBITCHES PERSONAL LIFE! THE LAST THING I WANT TO SEE WHEN I LOG INTO A COLLEGE FOOTBALL BLOG IS SOME CRAP ABOUT SEXUAL LIFESTYLE AND HOMOSEXUAL ASSUMILATION INTO ANY SOCIETIAL SECTOR. THEN TO BE CALLED ON THAT OBJECTION? BULLSHIT!
5. You attacked Mark Sánchez the same way which BTW did NOT get you anywhere.
ACTUALLY WRONG AGAIN ASSHOLE! CHECK EVERY POST I EVER MADE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS RE: SANCHEZ. I FAVORED HIS BEING PART OF THE TEAM AND STRONGLY SUPPORTED THE COMPETITION ASPECT STRICTLY! YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE POST OF MINE THAT WAS EVER SANCHEZ NEGATIVE! I ALSO NEVER EVER COMMENTED ON THE ALLEGATIONS THAT HE WAS "NEVER" CHARGED FOR! NEVER!
6. ALL of it amounts to childish garbage...
WRONG AGAIN MORON! IT'S JUST OUR PERSONALITY CONFLICT! JUST LOOK AT ALL THE POSTINGS THAT HAVE BRANCHED OFF OF THE BOYICH INITIAL POST EL CAP.... PLEASE SHOW ME WHERE ALL OF THIS CRAP BELONGS IN SC FOOTBALL DISCUSSION!
ps..I DON'T NEED TO SHOUT TO COUNTER YOUR WEAK SMACK EL CAP..THE LARGE TYPE IS FOR TIREBITER'S EASE OF READING!
Who's this Boybitch anyways, does anyone know? It's getting pretty old reading about some guy's love for pole, THIS IS USC!!! IF YOU WANT TO GO FUCK SOME DUDES, GO ACROSS TOWN!!!!!
Fight On
Hey Mr. Goliath aka Toolbox:
How about you calm the "F" down and take that frustration on over to my place and give me some loving. I have been trying to get ahold of this Boybitch character but he hasn't returned my posts. So if you could get your cute little BEHIND over to my place, then you can let out all the aggression you want. I'll we waiting for you with my boxers on backwards carebear...shmea.
Brian Davidian,
You sound like an awesome young boy...Maybe we can go to the rose bowl together in January. I would love for you to sit on my lap. What do you say? We can drink "juice" and play Monopoly while we tailgate with the LAPD. It would be an hour if you were my guest. I eally enjoy the way you speak Brian Dividian. Funny...you remind me of my uncle Thor, who used to play with me in my bedroom while watching old USC rose bowl victories....
FIGHT ON!!!!
Brandon Thor
There 's a loud mouth here who hides behind the keyboard to talk big.
I got 195 lbs to handle that big mouth.
Then look in the mirror asshole! THERE'S the true picture of the big mouth. The devils advocate for a couple of years on this blog. My 220# aint fat butthead but my age might give you an edge. But if I got my hands on you it would be all over so just pipe down pendejo and get back to Trojan football and forget about the rest of your true agenda of hiding behind your own keyboard and dropping turds into our punchbowl!
Now the loudmouth(bocón) is a "chango" "come mierda"...
Goliathtrojan:
Truce and more truce and I hope you excuse the way I phrased it. Intelligently and politely let's bury the hatchet. We don't have to be friends but we can believe in SPORTSMANSHIP.
Sincerely,

I gladly commend your invitation. If it's truce you wish, I positively concur.
