Open Forum, Act III

This segment is brought to you by the city of New Orleans, which thanks you for not spending a dime in their city for the BCS title game.

I think the believe the duo of Norm Chow and DeWayne Walker could be quite formidable. Chow could call plays and supervise the offense while Walker recruits and runs the defense. But what happens the second year if Walker gets a head-coaching job? I think there's been too much focus right now on Chow because it's known he will interview. Coaching searches usually look at several candidates, so this one should take a few turns.

If Rey Maualuga left, the starters would probably be Kaluka Maiava, Luthur Brown (Chris Galippo if healthy) and Brian Cushing.

Mitch Mustain is not a spread-option QB. Aaron Corp is better suited to run it. But Pete Carroll disdains the spread offense, at least for USC, so don't expect to see it. How often did you see the revolutionary shotgun this season?

I do not know Chow's chances of landing the UCLA job but I do wonder why no one with head-coaching experience seems to be a viable candidate. Money is an issue but this is a high-profile program that deserves a high-profile coach. But when was the last time they ever hired someone who was a head coach?
If UCLA could hold its nose, Rick Neuheisel is available. I can tell you he's the one candidate that scares the most Pac-10 coaches. DeWayne Walker would probably be the coach with the most upside.

I haven't heard anything about changing the playcalling despite the flurry of stats you mentioned. My guess is the coaches think those stats are the result of injuries and the fact Leinart-Bush-etc. are no longer here. Caesar prefers Sarkisian on the field, so he'll probably stay there.
