We'll start this a little early this time. I'll end the suspense now with my own prediction: USC 31, Illinois 17.

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

I would not be surprised if this turns out to be a closer Rose Bowl then we are all expecting it to be. Win it by 1 or win it 30, it does not matter to me. I just want a Trojan victory. Fight On!

USC squeaks by with a 23-20 win , they just don't sound motivated to play the game. I know I'm not motivated to watch it. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose AND I think this is it for the USC " dynasty " I think you'll see the program fall off in the coming years.

Agree, closer game than forecast. The offense is mediocre, but the Def dominates. Freddy D has 9 catches for 117 yards, Chaucey 16 carries for 53 yards, and JDB is 16-31 for 203 yards. Kevin Ellison is the MVP w/ 1 pick, 1 fumble recovery, and 5 1/2 tackles. Chow says "no" to Neuweasel.

I see this game as being similar to the Cal game (w/o the rain). I think Illinois will have some success running the ball with about 80-100 yds on the ground, with as much as half of that total from the QB. I also think the offense will again be conservative, and there will not be many long passes attempted.
Assuming USC wins, it will at least salvage the season with a 11-2 record and a Rose Bowl win. However, it is still a huge disappointment not to be playing in the NC game.
