About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Just what is the possible justification for the NCAA to prevent Mitch Mustain from partaking in bowl game practices? That boy has been at USC for months, practiced every day, never missed a session, but because he's a transfer, he can no longer practice until the spring? Just the height of lunacy.
Kevin Ellison seemed to have the better year, IMO, but Taylor Mays made some of the national all-american teams as a lower stringer. Who had the better year, Mays or Ellison? And, if you will indulge me with two questions, how is CJ Gable doing? Has he been participating in meetings, hanging out with the team, in good spirits, or depressed and frustrated from his rehab?
Who is going to be UCLA's next coach (Chow?)?
And did anyone even know that a JOHN Harbaugh existed? I wonder if Jim Harbaugh even knew he had a brother coaching football
Scott:
With Mitch Mustain's 2007 season now officially over, would you consider his performances in practice to have met or exceeded the expectations and the hype that came with him to USC?

Of the players yet to break the starting rotation, who do you believe has stood out as far as having a positive attitude and strong work ethic?
What day should we expect breaking news from you regarding academic casualties? I still remember how you broke Van Blarcom's expulsion within hours of grades being posted last year, so are you going to try to break the record this year by posting within mere minutes?
My money is on Spanos being ruled ineligible for the Rose Bowl.
Scott, are you aware that ever since the software on your blog was "upgraded" (I say that so very loosely), the blog search function on the right has not been working? We need to search the archives!
After Marc Tyler's impressive showing in today's scrimmage, could you foresee him challenging for the starting TB job next season?
Hi SCOTT:
You have talked about Ayles, Smith, and Shoemate, but could you share your thoughts with us re our two other highly-rated linemen, Kalil and Meyer, and also Armstead, the guy who was pushing our other guys around during a camp last summer?
Thanks a lot.
If you have time for a second question, as you did last week, how many of the 7 guys in academic trouble are starters?
Thanks again!
Hey, Scott.
Attended today's practice and had three quick questions.
1. I thought Mustain wasn't allowed to practice but there he was all the same. And your post-practice write-up seemed to indicate there may be more Mitch in the days ahead. What's the rule, exactly?
2. Why is horse-collaring still legal in college ball even though the pros have banned it, and do you expect that to be changed soon?
3. At one point the team had orange fabric on their helmets. What does that signify?
Thanks!
So I woke up this morning and there is one newspaper article, internet report, etc., after another about Mustain's performance at yesterday's scrimmage.
Scott, as a longtime observer, did you see this coming or was it a surprise? Was this a defining moment that will be highlighted in the pages of "Mitch and Me" or just another day at the office for Mitch?
SW, why do you think that "Sark" has not utilize Stanley Havili more? In the games were Stanley has been utilized, he has been very effective. Fight On!
Scott, what are your thoughts on Arthur Brown choosing Miami over USC? He says he had a better connection with the players and coaches, but I presume that's just polite doublespeak. Was it really, for example, about being a huge fish in a tiny pond?
And what (if anything) might this say about his brother's signing preferences?
Hey Scott,
Why is it that Patrick Turner has turned in to such an Average Receiver, as oppsosed to blossoming to the exceptional receiver as he was projected to be?
TMH4USC:
10 for 16, 162 yards and three TD's against a third-team mostly of walk-ons and redshirts. Furthermore Gary Klein of the LA Times wrote that OC Steve Sarkisian said that MM is missing the "intricacies" of USC offense. Keep getting excited over your MM obsession...
Sanchez played with the same offense and against the same defense, and did not do anything. Not one TD and exactly 1/3rd the yards.. He's finished. He's going to transfer when Mustain beats him handedly.
