Chow Fired?

I just pray it's not FUCLA.

I think Norm Chow is, bar none, the best offensive coordinator in the last quarter century. Every quarterback that he's coached at the collegiate level has grown by leaps and bounds. I know this will never happen, but I hope PC swallows his pride and gets Chow back on board with SC. The worst thing that could ever happen in that regard, would be for him to go to FUCLA. Coach Neuhiesel, with DC Walker, and OC Chow would pose one heck of a challenge to SC's west coast dominance.

Please don't let that happen!

Chow will wind up at UC Losers Always and cause trouble there like he did at USC. To get fired by your NFL team for not being able to put points on the board? This is not exactly a glowing recommendation from your previous employer. Ask yourself: If this guy is so brilliant, why has he bounced all around college football and now the NFL, while not being able to become a head coach? There must be something wrong there.

Will Rick want to share his success with Chow. Chow with Carroll was like when Fluff was the caddie for Tiger. He was getting too much credit and even his own commercials. Same thing with Butch Harmon. That's why Tiger got rid of them. Norm wouldn't recruit and held up SC every year for more money.

If the Trio of Neuheisel, Chow and Walker could somehow move around the athletic department at UCLA without bumping into each others Ego's, it might make Football in Los Angeles REALLY interesting.

I hope he comes back to sc not only to make the offense dominant again but to also keep teaching sark how to call a good game. He called a good one for the rose bowl but you wont get a monthe to prep for every team.

I hope he doesn't end up at UCLA. His leaving USC had mostly to do with a clash of egos and philosophy on how to manage the game. HE IS NOT COMING BACK TO USC.

I'm not sure anyone can even argue about his value as an offensive coordinator. Chow may not be head coach material, and he may not interview well, but he can coach the heck out of the offense and create mismatches all over the field.

Once Bill Walsh died according to the experts former USC back-up QB Mike Holmgren is considered the best QB guru/OC around. He is credited for developing Brett Favre and Matt Hasselbeck. He also won a Super Bowl with Brett Favre. Mr. Chow among college QB/OC is right-up there but NOT in the NFL. After Holmgren you got Mike Shanahan, Norv Turner(Troy Aikman) and Sam Wyche(Joe Montana and Boomer Essaison). Also up there you have Jim Fassel(USC), Sean Payton, Brad Childress and Gary Kubiak QB's coach and OC under Mike Shanahan in San Francisco and Denver. Add to that list the hottest FREE agent OC Head Coach candidate Dallas OC Jason Garrett(Tony Romo) which Dallas owner Jerry Jones is willing to match any offer by Atlanta, Baltimore, Miami and Washington in order to keep him. I almost forgot Charlie Weis(Tom Brady).

Chow was making $1MIL at TN. USC possibly can afford to match that NOT UCLA. Slick Rick's salary is a reported $1.25 MIL/Yr.

He's got to end up as an NFL assistant since he needs two years for a lifetime pension. If not, has Hawaii filled it's HC vacancy yet? I know he said he wasn't interested but things have changed for him and he may want to reconsider.

DC Greg McMackin is Hawaii new HC. The 49ers don't have a QB's coach and that could be a good fit plus he gets back to the west coast.

I believe Coy Detmer went to Colorado (I could be wrong) but he also coached Robbie Boscoe, who did nothing after college but did win the Nat Title. I'm not saying Chow is the best OC at any level over the past 25 years. In fact, I think Bill Walsh holds that title (and will forever more, even though I am a Raiders fan). I'm just saying Chow is the best college OC of the past quarter century. His level of success is unmatched by anyone, and the sheer number of quarterbacks who have gotten better under his tutelage is just plain nuts.
