Dept. Of Obfuscation

A colleague emailed UCLA's response to the omission of the band and song girls from Saturday's basketball game at Pauley Pavilion. ``USC was provided the opportunity to purchase 100 tickets we hold for each Pac-10 opponent by conference rule. They bought the tickets. It was USC's choice how to use their tickets.''
This is not even good spin. Since when do USC and UCLA, 12 miles apart, treat each other as just another Pac-10 opponent? Why doesn't UCLA provide USC with 5,000 tickets for next season's football game at the Rose Bowl like every other Pac-10 team? Not likely, because UCLA wants USC fans' money on that day.
It's a shame that as the rivalry appears set for great interest in football, the petty minds of UCLA administrators take control.
And this statement does not address why the song girls were banned, when they don't take up any of the precious seats at Pauley Pavilion.

THE SAME UCLA SPOKESMAN SAID " THE USC SONG GIRLS WERE BANNED, BECAUSE THIS YEAR, DURING TIMEOUTS, WE WANTED OUR SONG GIRLS ON THE FLOOR EVERY TIME" [IN PRIOR YEARS, THE SONG GIRLS WOULD ALTERNATE DURING TIME-OUTS]

MY RESPONSE IS--WELL, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A SCHOOL WHERE THE FOOTBALL PLAYERS PARK IN THE HANDICAPPED PARKING PLACES??????

UCLA HAS BEEN, IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, THE INGREDIENT THAT FILLS THE ENTRAILS.

Is there any way USC can sue UCLA? This sounds like a good case for USC.

The real reason the SC song girls were banned is that they're just too hot.

You guys are really turning into a WHINY bunch. WHINE WHINE WHINE. You took our coaches. WAAAAAA. WHINE WHINE WHINE. Our Song Girls couldn't come. WAAAAAA. Maybe your Song Girls were raped by Mark Sanchez, not to be confused with Dirty Sanchez his cousin, the night before and just weren't up to it. HAHAHAHA. BTW, ask the Ting brothers who have received death threats from USC fans how classy you guys are.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
