It's A Small World

USC coach Pete Carroll ran into UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker this morning at Crenshaw High School. There's a lot of things they could have talked about, but the Norm Chow/UCLA situation was not among them.
We're hearing right now that Chow is talking to UCLA but undecided on his next move.

Pete Carroll has been real quiet since the Rose Bowl. I'm sure he's had many things on his mind, we've all read the speculation and innuendo about his leaving. That though, may not be the reason.

Most men get quiet when they get angered, or otherwise disturbed, and then explode. Nueheisel's arrogant, in your face style has no doubt got Pete's attention and this, in itself, will bring Pete out of his malaise.

Bruin fans are all a dither; giggling about how Rickie has gotten into Coach Carrol's head, but may not fully understand the implications that approach, may have for them.

In his head or not, or stepping on his freshly polished shoes, most definitely means devising a plan not just to beat UCLA, but to humiliate them and show Nueheisel and Walker as the pretenders they are.

Sarkisian has the talent to be as explosive a team as they were in 2003-2004. No matter the rumors of this or that team wanting him for Head Coach or OC, he HAS to have one or two years of exceptional performance in order to step from behind the shadow of Norm Chow.

I feel SC fans are at the cusp of the next iteration
of TROJAN Dominance.

Thank You Mr. Nueheisel

Some of us have very inflated opinions of Pete's abilities. He's been humiliated by Fucla within the city for recruiting of late-losing Price, Hester,Jones etc. He no longer has the mofo to get the inner city kids.

Add to this the 13-9 travesty, where we were clearly outcoached by the pretenders, that ko'd our NC hopes, and I have to admit we're in retreat. Slick Rick represents a new challenge when Pete has shown his vulnerability.

just4,
recruiting isn't over yet, the kids you mention have only given a 'soft-verbal' according to scout.com.

I don't know what kind of 'mofo' you are talking about. In the big picture, it's the PARENT'S you have to recruit. Athletes parents are just like stage mommy's, looking for the best deal, and the sooner the better!

You make it sound as if Pete has become impotent,
"Some of us" I take it to mean you, opinions, well you know the saying. Forget the opinions and look at his record, one of the best in Collegiate Football.

13-9 hmmmmm, you see this as an ascension of a dynasty, Trojans in retreat, rather than what it was, an anomaly. I guess this years win (2007) doesn't count, because we're retreating........oh well.

You, like the rabid Bruin fans on BN want to give
Rickie Boy too much credit, too soon. Why? because in each of Rickie's success's UW and Colorado, he took over teams that were stacked with talent from the previous coaching staff, my friend, he ain't got that at UCLA.

Rickie is an acknowledged Offensive Whiz Kid....maybe, but the QB depth he has at UCLA, offers you an opportunity to be a successful walkon!

Typical Just. Go cheer for the Bruins and leave the true fans alone. Your opinions are idiotic.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
