Mayo Update

O.J. Mayo remains eligible for tonight's game against Oregon State, according to a school spokesperson. There were some fears following the Lakers ticket controversy that USC's compliance office would declare him ineligible and require him to be reinstated by the NCAA.

Fears from media hype jockeys who sell spin instead of factual reporting and logical analysis. This story has been so blow out of proportion, even on the news ticker for ESPN for 2 days!!! Ridiculous!!! His buddy gave the kid a ticket. Non-story. Might as well pick up the Enquirer, along with your copy of the Times and Daily News.

Not as bad as Coach Wooden talking to recruit Love before Love committed to the ruins. I think the NCAA should take away all the National Championships won while Wooden was the basketball coach.

Well, hype or no hype, Las Vegas was not laying a line until Mayo was declared eligible, so some people were taking this seriously.

Just shows the power of the media to affect society, for good and for bad. With all the hype, and a gullible society buying into it, a lesser college administration might have buckled under public scrutiny to take premature action.....Duke lacrosse anyone? Thankfully, our USC sports admin have the skills of a top notch pro organization and are able to quickly separate the wheat from the chaff. The sports media, in today's wired world of blogs, is becoming more like the paps chasing Britney than real journalists. That poor girl from ESPN, Dana Jacobson, who was suspended from work for 1 week for getting drunk and saying offensive things at a private roast. It was a blue, adult-oriented roast! It was private! Lloyd Lake is a convicted felon! Lighten up, America! Don't feed at the trough of the media hype machine. Hey, any news on Heath today?

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
