Meet Me In St. Louis

Does this sentence disturb anyone?
``Snyder and Carroll met in St. Louis “early in the process” following coach Joe Gibbs’ resignation on Jan. 8.''
This is the AP story and was leaked by a Redskins source.

Actually, it does bother me. If Pete isn't interested in returning to the "No Fun League" as he calls it, then why entertain offers every year? I know he can't control rumors from NFL teams when they speculate on possible candidates for their coaching search, but he "interviewed" twice this off-season and once last year. It sure looks like he's shopping and adds to the spiel that coaches use against us in recruiting. It looks like Harbaugh really did hear something, or at least Pete is making it look that way.

ESPN reported that Pete had a nine hour meeting with Daniel Snyder, only for them to mutually decide that it would not work. Huh? It took nine hours to figure that out? Something isn't making sense here. If he truly met for nine hours, that seems to be more than a passing interest. I wonder what impact it has on recruiting, if any.

Two points to Wolf and the posters...

what do you care? if you kept getting calls from suitors that were offering you a 50% raise, you tellin me you wouldn't take it?

and, possibility of doing your job will full control?

yeah, right.

and, to address your ego post Wolf, you have one, too...everyone that is successful does...having a billionaire owner of the most powerful sport in America court you is a crazy feeling...we all want it.

doesn't matter...PC is here to stay because his ego wants to be known as the greatest college coach of all time.

Fight On!

Does not bother in the least.

If any owner wanted to offer PC the HC position on his team I believe he would sit down and listen and explain why he does not take these jobs.

If the Iragi Times wanted to offer you a spot with their paper I am sure you would be kind enough to sit and listen SW.

Anyway the Redskins offered the same job to my old Pop Warner Coach and he spent 11 hours with Snyder before turning it down.

Of course I care. I went to school during the McKay and Robinson years and we grew accustomed to winning and NC's. The years under Tollner, Smith, Hackett were tough to take. Pete brought us back to where we were and more. A coach can obviously make a huge difference. Look what Floyd has done with the basketball team after DECADES of (mostly) losing. Of course we're concerned if Pete looks like he may leave.
If he truly is willing to back to the NFL for a "50% raise", then he's not what he's been portraying himself to be. He keeps saying that he won't go back but then he interviews. Wasn't this part of the knock on Chow - that he kept interviewing for other jobs. Pete said he had to prepare for Chow to leave to where he actually made it happen. If this is just an ego trip, as some suggest, then it's very irresponsible to do it now, right before recruits can sign. If it's serious job-shopping, then it's even worse.

If a Jehovah"s Witness comes to your door, do you invite them in, spend hours talking with them,, and then tell them you're not interested? When a tele-marketer calls, do you spend a lot of time discussing it with them? OR, do you tell these people right away that you're not interested? If someone wants to discuss a job that you already know you don't want, do you get on a plane, fly halfway across the country, spend all day talking to them before you say you're not interested?
Either he's shopping for an NFL job or he's not. If he's really not serious about going back, as he says, then he needs to stop doing this. He's just screwing with the fans and hurting recruiting.
