Mission Accomplished

There are reports Al Davis wants Lane Kiffin to resign. This follows Kiffin being overruled by Davis when firing defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. We previously mentioned Nick Holt's name was mentioned for that job.
But don't gloat about Kiffin getting fired, if it happens. He got what he wanted. He was an NFL head coach and now gets to put that on his resume. And he made a few million dollars.
All in all, he came out ahead.

That's it?-- He has on his resume that he was a pro coach and he made a few million, so you conclude that he was a success. Of course, the resume will also state that he was fired after one year, so his prospects of being hired again are about nil.

As for the money, studies indicate that with people who are at least financially comfortable (i.e. not living pay check to pay check), additional money does not add to their happiness level.

Most men like to work, whether they are financially set or not. What is Kiffin going to do now, accept an assistant coaches position at some small college? I would call that quite a comedown.

Gloat? Sounds like something only a tabloid writer vs a sports beat writer would do.

I don't think Kif came out of the Raiders experience looking bad.
He won four games with a team that won two the year before, which is more than most people expected and it's not like Al Davis is known for being rational.

Worse come to worse, Rick Neuheisel will give him a job.

Lawyer John,
Al Davis is senile and a meddler, he made a mistake thinking he could intimidate Kiffin. According to Chris Mortensen, Kiffin refused to sign a letter of resignation today, which will force Al Davis’ hand. No matter what, Kiffin comes out of Oakland smelling like a rose. There will be no shortage of NFL opportunities for him; and in a few years when Pete Carroll decides to move on, well… meet your new USC head coach, with Brennan Carroll as his top assistant and offensive coordinator.

Kiffin is an overrated, pompous asshole! It took a senile old man like A.D. to make him a NFL head coach.
I pray he doesn't come back to the team.

42,
I agree with you on all counts. However, your description also applies to guys like Urban Meyer, Les Miles, Bob Stoops, Charlie Weiss, Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, Mike Bellotti, Jeff Tedford, Chowheisel and countless others. Dare we include Caesar?

Yes to most of those guys, but not for Caesar. I think he is cocky and self-confidant. And I hope he stays at SC for a long time! I thought the glory days of SC football were long gone. Thank God I was wrong! Hail Caesar!!!
