Nice Move

So John Harbaugh, who was primarily a special teams coach, gets the Baltimore Ravens job?
If the Ravens wanted a Harbaugh, maybe they should have hired Jim. At least he's been a head coach.
But this shows how NFL teams think. They would rather have a coach they can control than Caesar, who wants control of personnel moves.

Scott,
You should do more homework. Listen to Sirius NFL radio and listen to what NFL insiders think about Harbaugh. Pat Kirwan advised that Marty Schottenheimer is what the Ravens need to clean up the locker room there, and you cant put a value on the experience that Schottenheimer brings, but all of their analysts, including Kirwan, praise Harbaugh. The Eagles play by play announcer called into the afternoon program and highlighted how dynamic, detail oriented, and focused individual Harbaugh is. Harbaugh, who was rumored to be a candidate for the UCLA job, and Dick Vermeil was quoted that Harbaugh was more ready to be a head coach than Vermeil was. People are very high on Harbaugh.

I am a Packer fan, and love the NFL and follow it closely - your statement of the fact that he's a special teams coach is not a fair assessment. Think about the responsibilities of a special teams coach, the scope of work better encompasses the resonsibilities of a head coach than other coordinator positions.

At the end of the day, the NFL is a business - I would agree with the concept of focusing resources on coaching, and let GM's focus on player personnel. Should a head coach of some say in personnel decisions, of course, but complete control - doesnt make sense.
