No Nicknames
You might notice when USC plays games at the Galen Center that public-address announcer Petros Papadakis does not have a nickname for guard O.J. Mayo.
That's because a member of the athletic dept. forbids any nickmames for the special one.

Too bad your editors don't have the same policy when referring to Head Coach Pete Carroll.

that's because OOOOOOO-J Mayo is so fun to say already.
Papadakis is a buffoon, and USC made a mistake with this mercy hire. I pray he’ll take his shtick to UCLA or go back to waiting tables at the taverna.
Oh stop it. Petros is an icon. He loves SC and his energy is unmatched. If you missed him on Fox 11 Wednesday morning, you missed the most sexual tension on one live TV set ever.
I did see Petros busing tables a year or so back at the Taverna. I asked someone there about it and apparently he helps out when someone is out.
No matter what you think of his sense of humor, you have to respect that.
But for those who do like his sense of humor my favorite is:
"If you needed two yards, I'd get you two yards. If you needed three yards, I'd get you two yards."
What nicknames could one possibly hang on O.J.-- Juice is taken. 'Mustard' and 'hot dog' would be offensive; besides he is now playing much better team ball so those names would not be appropriate.
How about 'Gone,' as in he is gone come March.
But back to Petros. Come on, who wouln't want him as a friend. Irreverent, self-effacing, well-read, witty. But he was better on his radio show when he went solo, one wild crazy Greek (or is that redundant?). He and Money are deep on their new show, but the humor is not always there, and hence I don't listen anymore.
