THAT WAS YESTERDAY---------DAMMIT----------THAT WAS ONE HELLUVA DAY--------OLD JAGUAR JON AND CRASH AND ROLL
TROJANS OPENED UP A 7-0 LEAD----IRISH TIED IT-------THEN IT WAS 21-7 TROY-------THEN 21-20 BEFORE WE PULLED AWAY
I WAS GOING OUT OF MY MIND---MY GRANDPA --A LOYAL NOTRE DAME FAN---WAS LISTENING TO THE GAME ON THE RADIO WITH ME--------I CAN REMEMBER HIS EXACT WORDS NEAR THE END OF THE GAME----------"THAT SURE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE NOTRE DAME TO ME"-----I LAUGHED.

AW SHUCKS! ------LOL--------A SINCERE THANKS TO YOU, GT!---------FUNNY THING IS, IT REALLY DOES SEEM LIKE YESTERDAY-----I CAN REMEMBER SO MANY OF THE PLAYS FROM THAT GAME------THE GOLDEN BOY, PAUL HORNUNG, WHO WON THE HEISMAN THE FOLLOWING YEAR, RUNNING A KICKOFF BACK FOR A TD, JON ARNETT CATCHING A LONG PASS IN THE SECOND HALF, ETC. AND ETC.
AGAIN, GT, THANK YOU!!

Tire,

Did Jon catch a long pass or did Jon catch a short pass and did his usual RAC?

Jon goes to the Rams and CR goes to the niners where he becomes part of the alphabet back field. QB-Y.A. Tittle, RB-J.D.Smith, WR-R.C. Owens. Man were they besutiful. (ALLEY OOP) I was at the game in 1957 in old Kezar stadium. Begging my father to let me go to the championship game. Niners were up 27-0 at half against Detroit. This was the first time I really felt pain, my heart was broken as my Niners lost 30-27. The Lion players also had colorful names a DB-Night Train Lane, a RB-Hop a Long Cassidy.

HI JAY
AS I REMEMBER-------JON CAUGHT A VERY LONG PASS--WHICH WAS UNUSUAL FOR HIM-------LIKE A 40 YARDER-----IT WAS IN THE 2ND HALF---AND THE QB WAS EITHER JIMMY CONTRATTO OR ELLSWORTH KISSINGER---WHO , OF COURSE, WAS NICKNAMED KISSY

THAT WAS A REALLY GREAT GAME, AS THE IRISH WERE HEAVILY FAVORED, AND WE HAD LOST HEARTBREAKERS TO THEM IN 54 AND 52===ALSO LOST 19-12 IN THE RAIN IN 51

IN 52, WE WERE UNBEATEN GOING IN, IT WAS THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON, BUT WE LOST 9-0 IN A BLIZZARD

IN 54 WE WERE BIG UNDERDOGS, AGAIN IT WAS THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON, BUT WE LED 17-14 WITH ONLY 4 MINUTES LEFT TO PLAY---THEN JIMMY MORSE RAN 73 YARDS FOR A TD--------THE IRISH ADDED A SAFETY LATE, SO WON 23-17 I CAN STILL HEAR OLD JOE BOLYN, THE NOTRE DAME ANNOUNCER, BEING SO HAPPY, WHILE I WAS SO MAD---LOL---WHERE DID THE YEARS GO?

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
