Pistols At Dawn?
UCLA's coaching staff is quickly turning into the who dislikes Pete Carroll more club? As if hiring Norm Chow wasn't enough, the Bruins hired Wayne Moses as running backs coach. Talk about a small world. He was fired by Carroll after USC's first season (largely due to a falling out with Lane Kiffin) and pretty much became the first coach to become disenchanted and end their friendship with the soon-to-be successful Trojans coach.
We've already documented Norm Chow's falling out with Carroll and defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker experienced his own differences in his once-close relationship.
Who's the next UCLA hire? Keith Uperesa?

Just in: Paul Hackett will be UCLA's new designated TOWEL WAVER on the sideline this season at the Rose Bowl. Opposing teams value the UCLA Towel Waver's work since opponents reguarly are weary after those long touchdown runs against the UCLA defense. It is an important position as the world knows that UCLA's team regularly throws in the towel at any football game.
UCLA also plans on hiring all former USC players after they are finished playing in the NFL. This goes in concert with Coach Slick Rick learning from UCLA's chancellor that the school plans to change its name to USC-LA prior to the 2009 season. The 8-Clap will now have to be modified to a 9-Clap to allow for the extra letter in the school's name.
In addition, a new exhibition hall will be built on UCLA's campus to display its FIRST 100 NCAA championship trophies. The football section of this hall will be located in a phone booth at the rear of the building, just behind the massive women's softball shrine.
Oh, there was also a rumor that the crybaby wannabe's wanted to change their colors to cardinal and gold, but there wasn't enough funds in the UCLA football budget since New Weasel had to dish out a ton of money just to keep Walker and hire Chow (beyond his remaining years on the NFL Titans' deal). So if you see Coach Slick Rick on the corner or some freeway on-ramp with a bucket and hand-written sign begging for donations, be nice and flip him a quarter or two. He's going to need anything he can get with that roster of players he has to work with for next season.
Typical UCLA animus.
I guess when Rick said he wanted to be like the program across town, he REALLY wanted to be like the program across town.
Well said, Bruce! Fight on!
By the way, here is a sneak peek at the UCLA cheerleaders practicing a new routine for their upcoming appearance at the Galen Center. Don't let anybody know!

I'm sick of them wasting my tax dollars on USC's rejects.
Just in, Larry Smith has been hired as conditioning coach with Ted Tolner as head equipment manager.
you do realize that moses was on the ucla staff with neuheisel back in the early 90's, right?
You do realize that Slick Rick Neuheisel got his law degree from USC, right? Guess he just could not resist the temptation from the Dark Side again!
Before USC people begin to take ownership of Wayne Moses, he was an assistant coach at UCLA BEFORE he ever coached at USC - at UCLA (and very successful at UCLA, as well as other places) a lot longer than he was at USC.
I'm sorry but this is starting to become pathetic. Is Neuheisel for real with the hiring of all these USC coaches?
Hey Neuheisel - there's a reason Pete let them go and hasn't looked back - and it's not because they were the cornerstone of the program today.
He went back to get Holt and Sarkisian but not Chow or Moses. Wonder why...
We hired Bibby and Norton, and probably others from fUCLA. It is a non-issue.
Scott:
Please, you're better than that and should practice
more journalistic integrity instead of being a Sensationalist. If you want to do that why not go work at TMZ or the Enquirer? I agree with Mike. This is a non issue. Unfortunately, not in the minds of some of these shallow minded and uninformed TrOJies. It's mostly your fault though Scott. You know these poor saps don't have the ability or intelligence to confirm a story on their own or do their own responsible research before flapping off. They look to you in this regard.
You guys are acting like typical TrOJie whiners. Anyone who ever coached at your school for even a few years is now YOURS? HAHAHAHA. Please. In the Pac-10, assistant coaches tend to move around a lot, even head coaches. Deal with it. Most of the guys you are crying about have had LONG careers at other Pac-10 schools, including UCLA, before even stepping foot at USC. Moses has coached for 28 years, he spent a measely one year at PUSC. He's coached at 5 different Pac-10 schools. Before that, he coached at UCLA for 6 years from 1990-1995. Under Moses' tutelage at UCLA, Abdul-Jabbar and Williams led the Pac-10 in rushing, while Hicks went on to earn All-America honors later in his career. In 1995, Abdul-Jabbar set UCLA's single-season rushing records and was named first-team All-America with Moses as his coach. He looks like a great get.
Chow has coached in the NCAA for 32 years. He spent 27 at BYU and only 4 at PUSC. Does BYU say "hey, those TrOJies want to be like us?"
D Walker was there only 2 years.
If you guys are sooooo GREAT, why couldn't you keep these guys. Do other schools call SUC and say hey, you want to be like us because you hired our coaches? Please. Everything you guys say has to have a Pro PUSC slant to it. No matter what. Get off this "You hired our coaches obsession", already. These seemingly inscestuos coach relationships are what makes the rivalry great and more interesting. You guys should relish it. Be happy, the series is about to become more competitive than ever.
