Quote Of The Day

``This may make all the recruiting experts angry but Mayo is a good player, he is not a great player . . . he could be a good player. He is not a great player.''
-- CBS analyst Billy Packer

That did not stop CBS from making Mayo its player of the game, in spite of Davon Jefferson's 25 points and nine rebounds.

I thought that was strange, too. Jefferson clearly deserved MVP honors for the game. He made the free throws in crunch time, and his monster dunk (and one) sealed the victory. Mayo missed the front end of the one-on-one and didn't always take good shots.

I agree that Mayo needs a lot of improvement, but you can tell he has a ton of natural talent and athleticism. He can be a great player if he works at it.

So, Scott, you watched the game, and weren't at Pauley? What gives?

I agree; Mayo turned the ball over, missed free throws, got trapped with the ball. The voting had to be before the game when all the hype of Love/Mayo

I was shocked they picked Love for the Bruins over Josh Shipp...Shipp was on the only one that came to play on their end!

Packer is 100% correct. You can tell the guy some good skills but it's just not there yet. I think his size might be an issue in the pros...doesn't seem like a pure scorer...or a pure passer...combined w/ the fact that he'll be slightly undersized at the next level and I think he'll be an average pro. The more the scouts get a chance to evaluate him the more average he'll grade out...there is still some mystery so I would expect him to leave after this season...the longer he stays the more his stock drops. I would think he has lost at least 10 spots in the draft b/c of his frosh season.
