Remember, Caesar, Thou Art Mortal
We hear UCLA is working on a deal with Norm Chow and things are reaching an advanced stage. If it gets done, the coordinator combo of DeWayne Walker and Chow will get Caesar's full attention. Who would have a better staff in America?

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

I have the greatest respect for Norm Chow and would not want to compete against him.
A combination of Rick Neuheisel, Norm Chow, and DeWayne Walker is truly a UCLA Dream Team of coaches:
New to the space and not sure why Wolf has such an attitude about Carroll? Do I think he's perfect? No, but I remember the Hackett days.

On paper, a fine team indeed. But as Charlie Weis discovered, you win with talented, experienced players, not "schematics."
When they win some ball games, a PAC-10 Championship and a BCS game, then maybe they'll keep me up in the dark of the night.
Plus, Sark has been offered a HC gig at the NFL level, something neither Walker or Chow have received.
Let's play some games before we start talking smack? Good lord.

I think we are getting way ahead of ourselves. The best OC in the Pac 10, even if Chow goes to UCLA, is Chip Kelly in Oregon.
I think it would be terrific. Chow vs. Carroll. Is Carroll such a good coach that he can beat the two most successful assistants? Bring it on, Slick Rick!!
No doubt Norm Chow has earned all the respect in the world, but this may not be UCLA's best move.
First of all, Pete Carroll is not going to be afraid to compete against Norm Chow. Those who think so and those Trojans who are afraid of having to do so don't know Pete Carroll.
Second, if you're UCLA is it really a great hire when your rival is the greatest defensive mind in the college game (perhaps the entire game) and that defensive mind has spent four or five years soaking up your offensive coordinator's playbook from the inside out? I mean, does anybody know Norm Chow's offense any better than Pete Carroll (possible LaVell Edwards).
Finally, UCLA is facing an uphill battle in recruiting against the dynasty Pete has built. They're going to be doing it with an offensive coordinator that's pretty laid back and really doesn't like recruiting.

Chow's name alone could attract top-notch QB and WR recruits to UCLA if he goes there. I agree with Brent, however, that Carroll knows Chow's offense better than anyone.
I doubt that Walker and Chow would stay very long at FUCLA, given their head coaching ambitions. (Although in Chow's case that door seems to be closing.)
And Trojanz, Scott is very sarcastic in discussing Carroll and USC. He likes to stir the pot...take it with a grain of salt.
Fight On!
Given outstanding talent (McMahon, Young, Detmer, Rivers, Palmer, Leainart) to work with, Norm Chow can be as good as anyone in the business. Unfortunately, he failed to develop Vince Young and got canned. The psychotic UCLA fan base believes Chow can work some magic with the likes of Olson, Cowan, Forcier, Rashann, and Bethel-Thompson; good luck with that. Chow will institute a pro-style offense, and USC only struggles against the spread. Lose twice to SC the wackos will turn against Chow like he’s the second coming Karl Dorrell. Welcome home Norm, it’s going to be interesting!
Uh, Scott where are you getting this stuff. Lets see, Chow when being cosidered for ucla's head job pulls his name out and then he cobsiders become their Off/co. Does not sound right.
Yawn.
Wake me when we play FUCLA next year.
Wolfie is sarcastic because he is looking for a columnist's job. Not gonna happen.
I agree with rcallerson that talent wins football games. Coaching can help win, but without the players (which UCLA has not at this stage), it won't matter much. USC has a terrific basketball coach, but so does UCLA, and UCLA has the better players. Which team is a national championship contender, and which one is not?
Come on down Chow, you can have Bethel Thomson McGee Smith or whatever his name is, run your complex offense. And take one look at your receivers and who your running backs are - not exactly Dwayne Jarrett and Reggie Bush and Lendale White out there, are they?
Case closed.
what the hell's the big deal about walker? why is he so highly regarded when fucla clearly is not a great defensive team? chow will not sign with fucla because he knows that $C will continue to kick ruin ass for years to come.

I have three questions for you guys:
1. Both Neuheisel and Chow are OC's. Having said that who is going to call the plays? I bet Slick Rick will.
2. Chow is making $1MIL right now doing nothing. WHY would he want that headache?
3. Slick Rick is reportedly making $1.25 MIL. Chow was making $0.5MIL when left USC to the NFL-TN making him one of the highest(if not the highest)paid OC in CFB. Can UCLA afford that payroll?
Prediction: If Chow goes to UCLA, Jimmy Clausen will transfer there.
ocrummy,
You know why Walker gets so much credit. All because FUCLA knocked off the Trojans in 2006 holding them to 3 field goals. That's his only claim to fame and a weak claim at that. You know the saying...even a blind squirrel finds a nut....
Correction of previous post...a 2 pt. conversion and a touchdown.
A safety and a touchdown. I'm tired I guess.
