Tight end Fred Davis could now be one of the top two players from USC drafted according to NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. It seems a general consensus that nose tackle Sedrick Ellis will be the top Trojan but Davis is now impressing NFL teams in practices.

Thats great to hear! Remember when Fred was recruited from Toledo, he was more coveted at WR than Dwayne Jarrett in that same class. Fred worked hard to get bigger and stronger and capitalized on his move to TE - including overcoming some early moments in the doghouse. Really, really happy for Freddie D, not sure why Sam Baker isnt an earlier pick with the dominant career he has had and how difficult a good tackle is to come by???

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
