Slow News Day

Quarterback Matt Barkley of Mater Dei announced he will attend USC. This is not exactly big news, except it dashes the hopes of UCLA fans who thought Barkley would reconsider his choices once Norm Chow got hired.

I dunno what Scott's thinking but getting the best QB in the 09 class is pretty big news to me. It may not be surprising news but it definitely classifies as big news.

UcLA stinks. I wish that Scott would write for them instead.

Congrats, Matt! But, wait, I thought the best QBs would flock to Norm??? BS, Pete is the man, SC is the dynasty, and Matt Barkley will win a repeat Heisman in 2010 and 2011, and throw for a combined 66-78, 937 yards, and 8 TDS in consecutive wins over the Bably Blu-ins with a combined score of 114-12 in '10 and '11. You made a big mistake, Norm. Neu-weasel, we will own you like a family pet. Welcome to the Trojan family, Matt "Heisman" Barkley! Fight on!

There is simply no way you can be this obtuse. USC just signs the #1 recruit in the country for 2009, right in the face of Slick Rick and the mighty Norm Chow, and you think it's no big deal!? Scott, please go cover the EPL, although I suspect you even know less about that futbol than college football.

Please try to give us a better product. Just a little bit of effort, insight and passion would be appreciated.

Isn't about time for Scott to re-live the 4 and 20 vs Stanford? That would be worthly of a slow news day.

gharry, Scott's love affair with the EPL goes way back. He used to have a pseudo identity where he would post entries under "MUNRO" and loved Manchester United unabashedly. He now has switched alliances I guess to Portsmouth by way of that pervy picture he took at the Rosebowl. Just something he likes to think himself as being clever.

Scott doesn't write for USC....Tim Tessalone does, you know the USC sports info director.
Scott is a reporter who covers USC...big difference between the two.
Keep up the good work Scott

Barkley's favorite receiver should be recruited also but he is a '08 graduate. But this is BIG news, Scott. With the other 2 or 3 commits we landed this week I guess the naysayers will have to keep quiet again. Barkley has all the potential in the world, just make sure we have someone for him to throw to who can hold onto the ball.

Sweet! I was a littler nervous after I heard Barkley was a candidate for the Atlanta Falcons job.

I think Scott was joking, too. This is big news. So much for the bRuins, who thought he might be changing his mind. At least he got fUCLA to pay his way to watch USC win at Pauley. Smart kid. Someone probably turn that into an NCAA violation, as well.

Nice work Scotty. Where were you in September when Matt and his father verbally committed to PC on a Sunday afternoon ? Hiding behind the wrong pillar at Heritage Hall that afternoon ?

Scott,

Any truth to the rumor that Neuheisel is trying to hire J.D. Booty as QB coach?

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
