Spin City
The USC locker room was nearly empty Tuesday night and once again, that loss to Stanford came up for discussion. And once again, USC coach Pete Carroll referred to the decision to leave John David Booty in the game.
``I've told you 1,000 times I blew it and screwed it up,'' Carroll said. ``I made a horrendous error in judgment.''
This remains perplexing, because Carroll said when he first made this statement it was spin intended to take the heat off criticism of Booty.
Furthermore, exactly what benefit comes if Mark Sanchez was insertion into the game? Booty, with a broken finger, could have handed the ball off just like Sanchez. Passing would have been foolish, because Sanchez needed a half to find his bearings against Arizona and that was with a full week of preparations.
Booty's broken finger didn't prevent USC scoring on 4th-and-1 on the last play of the half and it didn't cause a defensive back to turn the wrong way on the game-winning touchdown.

There would have been no game winning touchdown for Stanford if Sanchez was quarterback. Booty's errant passing in the second half contributed to the loss.
Now please let this go. This blog has covered this ad nauseum.
Let it go, Scott. You'll feel better after you've submitted your final AP poll vote with West Virginia at No. 1
Scotty, Time to beam up for a looooooooooog vacation!
Come on Scott!
We just needed to take care of the ball in the second half. What part of four interceptions do you not understand? We could have and should have played smashmouth football with Stanford all day and we chse not to. The offense could have been simplified tremendously and we still would have won that game by more than ten points.
Yes, we screwed up on fourth and 20 and fourth and goal, but it should never have come down to that in the first place.
Scottie, let it go already.
how about Sark's role? He kept calling pass plays!!!! Seems as if he's oblivious to what's happening-he seems to have a set formula for playcalling regardless
SW brought it up to belittle Sánchez. He's MM ambassador(too nice of a word, OK?)...
After the SECOND interception, who couldn't see there was a problem. After the THIRD, someone has their head in the sand. Blame coaches, and blame Booty for selfishly not admitting he was hurting. All it took was the sheer MOMENTUM of FOUR interceptions to light a fire under Stanford. Time to move on. Let's go to Miami next year.
