The Golden Ruel
Offensive line coach Pat Ruel is upset at agents again as offensive guard Chilo Rachal ponders turning pro.
``These agents told Fred Matua he was going on the first day and Winston Justice he was going in the first round. They lie.''

True, true, true. Someone must get the attention of these young men and tell them how it really is. The only ones profiting from some of these players going pro are the agents, period. Where is Winston Justice today? Dallas Sartz? And the veritable King of bad judgment: Mike Williams. With no degree and a possible early career serious injury, these guys are lost forever. The majority of the best players stayed the full 4 years, only a few benefit from turning pro early. And they're not usually football players.
This agent feeding and lying frenzy is ridiculous. The NCAA really should better protect the athletes here. The agents around SC remind me of the paparazzi following Britney, y'all.
Sartz was not an under classman.

Do you know how to read? You have the habit I noticed to twist, take out of context and mold things to fit your argument. SoCalMab did NOT state that Sartz left early. Winston Justice got injured and is on the Eagles IR. I think Williams is done. His best bet is to go to the CFL and try to resuscitate his career there.
The sad part as reported is Rachal's mother medical condition. Having said that those ambulance chasers are very shrewd and unscrupulous.
The guy I worry about getting tied up with agents is Joe McKnight. Whether kidding or not, his wearing eye tape that reads "I need $" is like throwing blood into a shark tank. Hope the coaches have a short leash on him.
There was a case in South Carolina where an athlete(FB?) was allowed to receive extra compensation because he is/was rearing his much younger brother. If the NCAA is contacted the people in Southern California should try to help this young man.
If I goofed on a player's name, I apologize but the point is the same - you can plug in any number of names: Matua, for example, Darnell Bing... Frankly the NCAA should just admit that a number of players are in college to play football and become pros, and they should major in that subject. Their play finances the rest of the athletic department. Special compensation doesn't sound wrong to me.
