The Versus Conference
I've been asked twice by readers about the Versus Conference (that's Pac-10 for the uninititated) going 4-2 in bowl games, so it's a trend! Anyways, the question implies this is some sort of validation of the conference.
Let's review: USC beats the Big Ten's co-second place team in a virtual home game. Oregon State beats 6-7 Maryland. Cal beats a Mountain West Conference team (Air Force). Oregon defeats South Florida. Of all those victories, Oregon at least won without its quarterback and beat a team that at one time was nationally respected.
No, I'm not overwhelmed. It's still the Versus Conference.

What's your label for the Big East ?
What's your label for the ACC?
It doesn't invalidate the conference either.
Funny how you point out the “subtleties” now, but when you ran your mouth about the Pac-10’s bowl losses, you forgot to mention that ULCA, playing with an interim coach, lost on a blocked chipshot field goal to a ranked team.
I agree for now, it was an off year for the Pac-10
This year was an off year for the Pac-10. But beating weak teams is still better than losing to them - let's call it a push.
