UCLA bRUINS Tradition
This might be the most pathetic action ever during the crosstown rivalry, but UCLA told USC before the game that the band and song girls would not be allowed in Pauley Pavilion for today's game.
Talk about draining the atmosphere out of a historical rivalry.
UCLA said it wanted to sell the seats where the band sits and claimed there was no time during timeouts for the USC song girls to perform. In years past, the two cheerleading squads always alternated, so this is typical spin from paranoid administrators.
In return, UCLA said it would not bring its band or cheerleaders to the Galen Center. Great, a sterile, one-sided environment for the big local game.
With the schools 12 miles apart, it's absurd not to have the bands at each game. No one I know ever remembers this before. Then again, fans remember the scoreboards at Pauley Pavilion in 1992 said, ``U$C.''

That is so petty. Typical baby bRuins.
That is a disservice to all past teams in both sides. The battle of the bands and cheerleaders is a big part of the college atmosphere, and what sets it apart from the pros.
By the way, maybe Coach Wooden stayed away for a reason - he is genius and perhaps foresaw that the bRuins, an 11.5 pt favorite, lose by 9 pts at home.
Towards the end of the game I was trying to yell at the USC fans about how USC sucks and how Rick Neuheisel is already turning UCLA into the city's powerhouse.
I don't think they heard me over the "Just like football" chants and the loud ringing of the Victory Bell.
This sounds like retaliation for the poor excuse for visitor seating at the LA Coliseum (good for UCLA...at least they can retaliate while no other Pac-10 school can truly do the same to USC). Opponent fans and bands are virtually sitting on another planet at the Coliseum. When posed with an inquiry as to why USC moved the visitor section from the west end of the stadium to the very top of the southeast section (behind the USC band), the USC ticket office stated it was for "safety" reasons (more seperation between "The Herd" and opponent fans, and to protect the horse). These seem like rather lame excuses (similiar to what UCLA is dishing out to the USC band at Pauley).
fucla has a long history of giving us crap seats in the RB.
as Eddie Murphy used to say on Mr. Robinson's neighborhood on SNL...SCUMBUCKET(S)
Wolf, you're a douchebag. Nice professionalism there dropping in bRUINS. You expect that from fans, but I thought professional journalists would have a little more class. Guess I was wrong.
Primus Sucks!
Scott,
Everyone knows you and the creator of boifromtroy.com really missed the male yell leaders in their cute, form-fitting sweaters.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Maybe it was for the best. The SC song girls are hot and pose a distraction for our players. The ucla girls will not cause you to look twice. That way, we played basketball. And did we ever play basketball.
Trojans should support this team, they can go a long way. Afterall, they could have beaten No. 1 Kansas and No. 2 Memphis. They are battle-tested, and so watch out for them

After getting beat on the court, there's no way UCLA could have handled their band and cheerleaders being upstaged by SC.
Uhhh, 13-9?
How did you know that boifromtroy.com even existed?? What kind of sites are you going to???????????
Please don't make us Bruins look bad!
Hey socalgoldenbear. So you have your facts correct. The seating situation all began shortly after UCLA moved into the Rose Bowl when they decided to put the Trojan fans in the endzone. UCLA only has themselves to blame as the UCLA administration continues to sink to new lows.
Fight On!
SoCalGoldenBear, you might have a point about our visitors seating in the Coliseum. The visiting teams have some legitimate gripes but not sure if you are aware or not, UCLA gets considerably more seats then the other visiting teams and some of our regular season ticket holders seats are moved for that game. Do they still have a gripe? Perhaps.
Just to further the point, our lousy visitor seating at the Coliseum came up as an agenda item at a recent Pac 10 Athletic Directors meeting.
