USC lost out to Florida on JC wide receiver Carl Moore last fall and knew one reason was that Moore's girlfriend, gymnast Maranda Smith, received a scholarship too. But Smith inadvertently told the Gainesville Sun last week she talked with Gators coach Urban Meyer "every day back in November when he was recruiting Carl.''
Florida's compliance office is now in damage control because coaches from one sport are not supposed to contact recruits in another sport and during some parts of the season limited to one call per week.
Florida is investigating, so expect Smith to say she was misquoted.
Cant say too much about that I mean wasn't Joe Mcknight's girlfriend going to sc before he committed to us. This type of stuff happens all the time. I heard a story about roy williams saying he would have went to cal if they offered his high school teammate a scholarship and they said no but OU said they would give him one and he signed with them.
She can do a Bush/McNight caper and say that she was misunderstood and that she never really talked to Urban Meyer.
Some rules are dumb.

Urban is smart. Many men have done at lot more for a lot less female companionship. At least Urban isn't hiring prostitutes like Neuweesie...
