Guard O.J. Mayo on Daniel Hackett's possibly broken rib or chipped bone in his hip.
``You really can't make up for Daniel," Mayo said. "One, his experience and two, his poise. Three, just having another player we don't mind having the ball down the stretch. He's a heady player and we'd miss him but sometimes that will happen.
"We don't want to blame this loss on injury here injury there. We definitely had an opportunity to win the ballgame."

Hackett's injury is so heartbreaking. When this tough kid did not return I knew the injury had to be serious. Now I would say SC's chances of making the NCAA tournament on league merit are bleak. He may be recovered by then, but it will probably be too late.

However, I will hold out hope that Troy could win the Pac-10 tournament and thus qualify. This team's starting 5 could play with anybody, but after that...

I think Coach Floyd did a horrible job managing the starters minutes last night. You could tell by the 6 minute mark when the wildcats were making their run that we had no gas left. What's surprising is that we had 4 timeouts left at that point and should've taken one at that point to give them a breather. What was he thinking?! We can't take the timeouts to the next game! Bad coaching!
