Here's some answers to our questions.
Q: Scott are you concerned about the O-line this year? losing baker radovich and spanos is huge...who do you think will start? why doesn't thomas herring ever start? Isn't it true that charles brown is a converted TE and heberer and butch have minimal experience? that just doesn't sound too good, we had a hard time last year with all those great guys...
A: Butch Lewis, Charles Brown and Zach Heberer should be the new starters. Lewis and Heberer did well in limited roles last season. Brown is a former high school TE. Herring doesn't start because he cannot beat out any of the starters and is ensconced as a reserve. It will take some injurie on the line for him to start.
Q: I just read that Vontaze Burfict is ready to commit! Is he going to give an early commitment to USC anyday now?
A: Yes. And he's an impressive pickup if you saw Centennial play last season.
Q: Scott, what do you think was the key to USC beating UCLA earlier this season in basketball, and do you think USC can beat them again this week in the rematch at Galen?
A: USC's triangle-and-two defense did well against the Bruins was quite effective and it didn't hurt that UCLA missed a lot of shots they normally make. If the Bruins hit those shots at the Galen Center, it could be a long night.
Q: Any idea who is going to be the long snapper this year? Someone posted that Chris Galipo was a long snapper in high school.
A: I did mention last year that Chris Galippo was mentioned as a possible candidate for snapping. But right now I think USC will look for JC walk-ons to handle the job.
Q: Why are you so mean to Matt Money Smith? Poor guy just wants to be loved
A: I actually feel pity for Money. He has to listen to Petros Papadakis yell for three hours a day.
Q: Do you have - and if not, are you working on establishing - a relationship w/ Tim Floyd akin to the one you have with Pete? For instance, I'd love to know Tim's thoughts on the following play that occurred during the Wash State game - when Mayo made a steal, and went up for a showy reverse instead of a power slam - I hope Tim let him know afterward that he's got to bring the rim game on a play like that!
A: I know Floyd quite well. Hopefully, I'll have time to ask him this week. But you might notice that Mayo enjoys great latitude to do what he wants.
Q: With so many early commits for the 2009 class, do you see Pete and his team really focusing in on landing a a highly touted recruit at the tailback position?
A: I think it's a high priority and we've already seen a commitment from Patrick Hall at St. Bonaventure. But USC will keep trying to land another one for the next signing class and May will be a big month, when Caesar hits the road nationally looking at recruits.

Not entirely on topic, but I remember some people asking about Saban's 32 player recruiting class and how he can exceed the limit. Here's his answer, "Don't worry about it." Talk about Caesar.

interesting article on Saban, Bruce. it looks like he is basically trying to cheat the system. and cheat certain players. Bama's scholarship constraints really should have been disclosed the the LOI signees to be fair. I wonder if Jerald Harris might have had second thoughts if he know that Saban was oversigning, and would have to screw over 10 players or so to meet the scholarship limits.
Thanks Scott and Bruce.
