This segment includes questions on C.J. Gable, Allen Bradford, USC basketball players going pro, Chilo Rachal and the USC swimming team. OK, I made the last part up.
Q: I am asking this question in a different form than it has been previously asked of you. Do you think Allen Bradford and C.J. Gable would have more potential to be drafted by the NFL(or drafted higher by the NFL) as defensive players, rather than as running backs?
A: Allen Bradford's size makes it difficult for him to be an NFL linebacker and he's not familiar enough with the safety position to really be a prospect. However, he could be a prospect at tailback, provided he plays. C.J. Gable could definitely raise his stock because of the way the NFL values cornerbacks. It would be interesting to see him play the position a little bit.
Q: From the basketball team, who do you think will go to the NBA this year?
A: Tough question. O.J. Mayo is gone. Davon Jefferson and Taj Gibson would like to go but it's not clear right now if they will. And then there's Daniel Hackett, who is mulling playing pro in Italy but said last week he expects to return.
Q: According to Mel Kiper, Chilo Rachal is expected to be taken in the first round. Did you see that coming? I thought he was a great player, but at the time he turned pro it sounded like the wrong decision. What has he done to raise his stock?
A: I don't trust this analysis right now. I'm not saying Rachal cannot be a first-round pick, but it's unlikely this early he would considered so high. Another factor that interests me is whether NFL teams put stock in what they hear from USC's coaches. Rachal barely spoke to any of them before turning pro and I'm guessing he's not getting model reviews from them.

SW with ALL due respect NFLN Tim Mayock knows more FB and the draft a lot better than you do and he has Chilo Rachal as the second best guard.
The young man's mother is awfully sick. Furthermore let's be fair to him whether we like his decision or NOT.
Thank you
El Capitan, His mother's illness has nothing to do with his NFL draft ranking. I don't usually give props to SW, but all he did was report not editorialize. Mr Rachal's decision is his alone, but not talking to the USC coaches before making his decision and getting their input is silly. Was he so insecure that he didn't want to hear their honest evaluation or use their connections to current NFL coaches to get a good read that it would have altered his decision. If the young man needed to go pro because of financial and family considerations do you really think the coaches would stand in his way? If you think that way then you have no respect for PC and his staff. The only USC player who benefited from coming out early was Tatupu (was TroyP a senior when he went pro?), even Reggie and Lendale, and his football IQ was over the top. All of the others should have stayed in school and played another year: BMW, Jarrett, Udezi, blah, blah blah.
woody:
SW clearly stated an NFL draft opinion. I clearly challenged that with facts. NFLN Tim Mayock knows more FB and about the draft than you and SW, PERIOD. I did NOT say that his mother's health condition has anything to do with his draft ranking. I would appreciate if you respect my intelligence, OK? Are you clear on that?
Are you perfect? Your opinion is NOTED NOT respected. Who in the hell are you to pass judgment on Rachal? What the hell do you know about leadership? Are you a board certified professional psychologist? Take care of your fat damn ego...
Thanks for your opinions Scott.
Here is NFLN Tim Mayock's Top five per position:

Rachal number two interior OL which he reiterated during his last NFL Total Access draft assessment.
Thank you
El Capitan:
I don't know how much Tim Mayock knows about the draft, but Mike Mayock at the NFL Network has Chilo as the second best interior linemen. It is a bit premature to be passing judgment on Chilo's draft position without the pro day at USC or the draft combine.
What you neglect to mention is that Chilo being the second highest rated interior O-line has no bearing on whether he is a 1st round draft pick or not, which was the question posed in the original post to SW. Kiper has his opinion, Mayock has his, Todd McShay has his and many mock draft experts on numerous websites all have their own. McShay has Chilo as the second highest rated guard as well; howeever, Chilo is only the 9th highest rated OL. I can't see NINE OL being drafted in the first round, especially with the amount of defensive talent and speed at the WR positions available.
I believe SW's point was that it is too early to tell and he was curious about how much stock NFL teams put into the college coach's evaluations. Woody made a valid point in that Chilo refused to speak to the coaches before turning in his papers. So why bother with the screaming and the insults?
On SW's original answer, Kiper seems to love overvaluing USC players in recent years. He screamed that Mike Williams was a steal for the Lions, he couldn't believe it when Leinart fell to the Cards and he was in shock when Jarrett/White/Justice fell all the way to the second round.
ttrojan READ and don't repeat what I have already said, OK? It is obvious you are an SW religious follower.

El Capitan:
What did I repeat that you said? You can't even get the analyst's name right, nor have you made any valid points in any of your posts other than saying "Mayock has Chilo as the second highest guard". Great. Some of us don't need to read the same thing 3 times to understand that.
The original question, as you would know if you had taken your own advice and READ the post and my comment, was whether Kiper slotting Chilo as a first round pick was reasonable. Your use of Mayock's rankings does not support that. Then you launched an unnecessary diatribe based on... gee, Mayock's rankings again.
Are you related to Chilo? His agent perhaps? Perhaps incapable of reading comprehension? Let me spell it out for you: Being the second rated guard DOES NOT guarantee being picked in the first round.
Also, since you seem to love posting links, here are some for you that do NOT PROJECT CHILO AS A FIRST ROUNDER:

Now, how about you read and not repeat yourself?
All,
El Capitain merely informed that Chilo's decision was based upon family best interest. And apparenlty some have taken this statement and merved into a blog lynching, i.e Chilo didn't inform the coach, his mother's has nothing to do with his draft status, are you related to Chilo, Chilo isn't guaranteed a being drafted, and finally "your opinion is noted not respected ". Please speak for yourself @$$(_)o(_).
THANK YOU
Mel Kiper has Rachal #19(rising!) on his board. Would you believe he has him ahead of Baker, Davis and Keith Rivers? Check:

ttrojan25:
I stand corrected, his name is Mike Mayock NOT Tim Mayock.
Thanks
