BCS penalty?

| | Comments (1) |

As one of the BCS bigwigs, I asked Tom Hansen whether the BCS could strip USC of its national titles if the NCAA sanctions the university because of the Reggie Bush investigation.
``That's been discussed without any resolution, so that's questionable,'' he said. ``The BCS does not have any enforcement arm to it.''

That was a stupid question, Scott. Seeing as how the BCS doesn't award a national championship trophy, what right would they have to force USC to give up a national championship? The coaches association, on the other hand, (and the AP for that matter) would be well within their rights to request that USC return that trophy, as it was given by their group.

This is all purely hypothetical anyway and is completely dependent on the NCAA finding fault with USC.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
