USC's success signing cornerback T.J. Bryant gives Pete Carroll his first victory at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla. Why is that an accomplishment?
Because Carroll had his heart broken a few years ago, when cornerback Antonio Cromartie (now with the San Diego Chargers), safety Pat Watkins and quarterback Gavin Dickey all flirted with the idea of coming to USC several years ago.
Dickey and Watkins actually committed but then changed their minds. Cromartie and Watkins went to Florida State while Dickey went to Florida.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
