Are you surprised at the traction the Seattle Times series on Rick Neuheisel's time at Washington continues to have, with many media sources (from the Sporting News to the LA Times) constantly following up on it, including bringing it up in interviews with Neuheisel? Do you think the USC coaches will use the case of Jerramy Stevens not being punished nor even charged for an alleged rape, despite significant evidence, while a football player at Washington when recruiting against Neuheisel and UCLA? Do you think anything is off the table for the USC coaches when it comes to the recruiting wars that are expected with the new Neuheisel regime at UCLA?

Just what exactly was the reason that Matt Leinart was chosen to start over Matt Cassel? Was it simply that Leinart was more talented and how was that determined? With Norm Chow calling the plays, is it not reasonable to suggest that USC would still have been able to get the same results with Cassel as the quarterback, including those two national championships?

Thank you in advance.

Hey Scott:

Due to the depth chart at running back at USC, do you think it is likely that Cierre Wood will end up somewhere else other than the Trojans? THANKS!!!

Scott, What position is Alfred Rowe slotted for?

Hey Scott, old Portsmouth got lucky in their FA Cup game last Saturday, own goals are the worst. Do you think the Man U beat down of Arsenal was due to the horrid stripped socks Arsenal wore, not to mention the buff colored jerseys as well?

In your opinion, out of this years Trojan class entering the Draft this season, who is going to have the most solid career at the next level? By solid meaning a multi-year starter with a Pro Bowl or two or three on their résumé. Thanks.

What do you attribute to the baseball team's lack of success these past five or so years? Do you share the opinion many have that Chad Kreuter's hiring was a big mistake and he's clearly not equipped for the job? Have you heard anything about his being fired possibly as early as this year?

Scott,

Norm Chow at UCLA now, sill he try to steal Mark Sanchez to UCLA.

People do not change. Rick Neuheisel and Norm Chow = probations for UCLA. Good luck UCLA football program. Your school brought that to you.

With some loss on the offensive line, do you see any of these incomming freshmen starting and becomming a 3 or 4 year starter?

Hi Scott, thanks for taking my question. Do you think the local press gives Ceasar a "pass" when it comes to coverage of Trojan player off-field legal & behavior issues? The Times just ran an article grilling Neuheisel for not taking more action when he was HC at UW years ago. I don't recall PC ever getting much criticism from the press for the numerous incidents involving his players. PC does an awesome job but he should be subject to criticism when appropriate.

Why has Mitch Mustain gotten so much more coverage than Brandon Hance (who was a two year starter at Purdue) ever got when he transferred to SC? Also, could you elaborate on why Hance had such issues with Carroll and came across as being disenfranchised and even angry by his treatment at the hands of the coach?

Scott,

Does the basketball team follow the same protocol as the football team in regards to gamedays (i.e. staying in a hotel for home games, daily routine of meetings and such)?

Thanks

Since Vidal Hazelton's family "insisted" on his surgery being performed by an expert in abdominal surgery, who is paying for the expense to have this procedure done at Drexel University? USC or the Hazelton family?

Despite PC returning the Trojans to greatness, are there any people in the Athletic Department or Administration who dislike him or resent his success? Are there any traits of Caesar that rub USC officials the wrong way and could become Rich Rodriguez-esque down the line?

Could the alleged victim in the Mark Sanchez rape case reappear sometime in the future and come back to haunt him the way it has recently for that former Washington player that many people are talking about?

Scott,

Is Pete's son, Brennan, a valuable member of the coaching staff, or is he on staff merely because of who is Dad is? Do the players, and more importantly the other coaches, respect him?

Scott,

You have said in the past that if Reggie Bush is found guilty by the NCAA of having taken money from agents, USC would not sue Bush out of fear that he will name other players who were also involved with agents. So my question is, if you know there were/are players who have had involvement involvement with agents while still student-athletes at USC, why do you not as a reporter name and expose these players in your articles? Are you fearful of being banned by the USC athletic department if you reveal too much negative or incriminating information that you know but are sitting on? You are obviously aware of important information that you are not revealing, so what goes behind deciding what you report and what you do not report?

I'm thinking that college football is the next steroid-scandal-waiting-to-happen. The linemen, in particular, are gigantic now compared to a decade or so ago. In-coming freshman are often as big now as NFL linemen used to be. I realize, training and nutrition are better than they used to be and that probably accounts for some of it. However, the "juice" so available now and enforcement is sporadic at best. I doubt all of these elephant-sized players are really clean. What's your take on this Scott?

How do you think the alumni will react to Traddies being temporarily closed this next football season due to the Student Center being remodeled? More 9-0 time?

HI WOLFIE
Maybe you can take your best shot at this one---of all the incoming recruits SC has,and just considering those who could NOT have had pretty much
their own choice of schools anywhere in the country,
which ones do you think will have the best chance to become very valuable starters? Thanx in advance.

Can you comment on Vidal Hazelton's injury? Was it considered a "sports hernia"? Any idea how long before he will be allowed to lift/run so that he can be in shape for spring practice? Thanks.

Hey, I have read your blog over the last year and I appreciate your objectiveness. I am a high school senior entering college next year and I have applied to USC. My grades are above a 3.5 and I am interested in long snapping at USC. The past 4 years I have been a long snapper on one of the best teams in Northern California behind de la salle and I was wondering if you have any information for me pertaining walking on at SC.

Thanks

Scott,
Who do you think is USC's best quarterback returning next year? Not necessarily who will start--that's an entirely different debate--but the guy that you think is the most talented. I tend to like Mustain at this point...

I've read the list of SC players invited to the combine, and heard that many of the other seniors are working out hard for SC's pro day. But, I haven't heard anything about Hershel D. Is he planning on trying to establish a pro career, and if so, how is he going about it? If not, any idea what he's up to?

Scott,

Congratulations to the Seattle Times for continuing to dig into all things Neuheisel. To dovetail on Voodoo Walk's comment, why is it that the Seattle paper is running this kind of investigation while the LA dailies continue to fawn over his arrival? Rerunning the Seattle Times comments within the context of a Neuheisel "therapy/confessional" session seems particularly sychophantic to me. Are you guys at the Daily News "on it?"

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
