Rankings History
We already mentioned SuperPrep will rank USC between eighth-12th. Here's where it ranked USC since Pete Carroll got hired.
Year Ranking
2001 19
2002 7
2003 1
2004 1
2005 3
2006 1
2007 2

Clearly those rankings mean nothing as they dont anticipate the Pete-Carroll-Bust-Out factor.
According to these rankings Pete had the best talent in the country in 05 06 and 07 and didnt win a National Championship.
If the dude can win with the best talent, what the hell else does he want?
Scott,
Lest we forget the 2002 class that ranked 7th in SuperPreps Ranking included arguably the greatest one-two punch at running back in the modern-history of the game...
Common Scott, don't be too pessimistic about this class yet. Could it have been better, of course, but these 'rankings' are always based on how the players were in high school and potentially how good they can be. Some of the best players in the game are self-made...so let's wait a year or two before we start ragging on this class...
And who knows, maybe Brice Butler and Joe Adams end up as the greatest pair of receivers in ‘SC history…
I believe the lineman coming in would be a dream come true for any offensive Coach in the NCAA.
Also McNeal and McAlister may be flying under the radar on some recruiting boards, but they are super talented kids.
This class may turn out to be one of the best!
All the recruit ranking sites place more emphasis on position players - QB, RB and WR. Just so happens USC needs none of those positions this year. USC has 4 ot hte top OL men this year an it was the main position of concern. NO one will be doubting this class when USC's o-line is dominating for the next 5 years. Doesn't matter if you have the #1 QBs from 3 of the last 5 classes (Sanchez, Mustain and Barkley) on your team if there's no one to protect them...
