Top six

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper said nose tackle Sedrick Ellis grades out as one of the top six players.
“If (John) Beck’s not the guy, (Miami) has to take Matt Ryan, but there are guys with equally as good a grade. Glenn Dorsey, (Darren) McFadden, Chris Long, Sedrick Ellis, Jake Long all have grades right in there with Matt Ryan. There are six guys that are a cut above the rest and those are the six.”

No, there's six. Mel Kiper has his "big six" this year where there's a considerable amount of distance in all around talent between them and the rest of this years prospects. John Beck was the Dolphins 2nd round draft pick and was drafted as their potential franchise QB and if he's not the guy than they'll have consider drafting Matt Ryan. I don't put too much stock in Mel's draft analysis.

It does sicken me that Dorsey received ALL the hype as the best DT this year, when I believe that Sed proved to be his equal or better on the field. And, Sed's abilities are proving out for the draft. Honestly, I wonder if SC's SPIN dept didn't miss an opportunity with Sed to market him more. Dorsey won the Outland, Lombardi and Nagurski, and Sed WASN'T EVEN a finalist for any of these awards. A crime, in my opinion. Come on, SC SPIN, we should promote our defensive stars just as much as our QBs and RBs.

"Come on, SC SPIN, we should promote our defensive stars just as much as our QBs and RBs". I could put a label on that comment instead I'll say blatantly and sarcastically WHY Mustain has been on a pedestal and Sánchez on a jail cell?

It baffles me how Dorsey brought home that much hardware this season. He was clearly exposed against Kentucky and especially in the Tulane game where blockers had success getting underneath his pads to lock him up and wash him out of the play. He also can't handle double teams and with average speed to make plays in long pursuit he's best when shooting the gaps inside rather than try to make plays to the outside. Whereas Sed has the ability to neutralize double teams and get to the outside if necessary. I think Sed will flourish in the NFL and I think Dorsey will be nothing but a poor man's Warren Sapp.
