About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

SW, what do you like more at this point, the 2008 LOI class or the 2009 prospective class?
Will Shane Horton have to sit out next year?
Scott, concerning the Booty vs. Sanchez in the Stanford game, you wrote, in part:
"A: I have not seen this interview but if what you say is true, it is interesting because Carroll finally admitted to you fans what he told me during the season: That he would not put Sanchez in the game. During the season, Carroll said repeatedly that he made a mistake leaving Booty in the game. But he told me that was really spin to take the heat off Booty."
Here is my question: Did you previously report that discrepancy? (I don't recall it, that's for sure.) If not, why did you keep such information to yourself? Did he tell you to keep off the record? Any other reason to keep that info private? Any insight as to your thought process (if it wasn't reported) is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the forum.
Are you aware of any USC players knowing about this site and reading the posts and comments on here?
Thanks
Scott are you concerned about the O-line this year?
losing baker radovich and spanos is huge...who do you think will start? why doesn't thomas herring ever start? Isn't it true that charles brown is a converted TE and heberer and butch have minimal experience? that just doesn't sound too good, we had a hard time last year with all those great guys...
I just read that Vontaze Burfict is ready to commit! Is he going to give an early commitment to USC anyday now?
Scott, what do you think was the key to USC beating UCLA earlier this season in basketball, and do you think USC can beat them again this week in the rematch at Galen?
Any idea who is going to be the long snapper this year? Someone posted that Chris Galipo was a long snapper in high school. Thanks.
Why are you so mean to Matt Money Smith? Poor guy just wants to be loved
Scott,
Do you have - and if not, are you working on establishing - a relationship w/ Tim Floyd akin to the one you have with Pete? For instance, I'd love to know Tim's thoughts on the following play that occurred during the Wash State game - when Mayo made a steal, and went up for a showy reverse instead of a power slam - I hope Tim let him know afterward that he's got to bring the rim game on a play like that!

Scott:
With the dawn of the era of our hero Mitch Mustain nearing and the possibilities of a brand new day in the Land of Troy being limitless, this raises some serious questions:
1) Can you elaborate on the rumors that M&Ms will become the official candy of USC in anticipation of the country being swept up in everything to do with the letter M as a result of the widespread fever surrounding our hero Mitch Mustain?
2) What do you know about Sesame Street declaring the letter M as their "Letter of the Day" every day for an entire week in honor of our hero Mitch Mustain, who clearly is a role model for all children throughout the world? Have you heard if there is a date set yet for this event? Will there be a Sesame Street song about our hero Mitch Mustain?
3) Will there be a new Muppet character based on our hero Mitch Mustain? Which current Muppet character will it most resemble?
4) Finally, what's the word from our hero Mitch Mustain regarding the Spice Girls abruptly canceling their world tour?
Fight On!
With so many early commits for the 2009 class, do you see Pete and his team really focusing in on landing a a highly touted recruit at the tailback position?

Called by FluorTower:
Does he have an attention deficit disorder? A genetic one? Anatomical? Psychological? Complexed?
MM is his "hero". He probably has MM tattooed on his forehead...
He breaths MM's. He eats MM's for breakfast, lunch and supper! He sleeps with MM's! He's infatuated with MM, he's "ku*ar" for MM. Is he in love with MM?
Stay tuned...

Is USC a frontrunner for the services of the great OT out of Utah, John Martinez and will USC beat ASU for the outstanding DE out of AZ, Devon Kennard? THANKS!!!
Is USC going after Devon Kennard harder than any other prospect from the 2009 class at this point and do you think they will get him?
From time to time we hear about how some players buy insurance policies that pay them money if they get injured and can't play pro ball. Did Hershel Dennis Reed use this program? Please explain what you can about this program, and list any players you know that have bennefitted from it.
thanks
Does a school fully pay (scholarship), for the year a transfer has to sit out?
The 2007 Trojans were supposed to field one of our best LB classes ever. I believe that this group underperformed and was overrated for most of the season. Several reasons, including Rivers and Cushing injuries, Maauluga still immature, Maiva and Matthews first meaningful playing time. I propose that the 2008 LB class may actually be our best group in years if healthy.....Maiva, Matthews, Maauluga and Cushing all seniors with a strong year of experience under their belts. Maiva and Matthews played great last year as subs, Maaluga should improve after another year of seasoning, and a healthy Cushing. All trying to jockey for draft position as seniors. Your thoughts on the 2007 vs. 2008 LB class please?
Did you see your blog post about Pete Carroll's constantly changing story regarding the Stanford loss has now become a national issue on Sports Illustrated's Campus Clicks?

Do you see any of the current USC Football staff leaving in the near future?
It appears to me that the majority of USC recruits during Carroll's tenure have been slotted for offense even though they might be known for defense. (IE- RoJo and CJ among others) I'm sure the tendency for most recruits is to want to be the "touchdown maker" and therefore teams may have to allow recruits to try offense before settling at defensive positions. What is your understanding of this and does this imply that talented offensive recruits are harder to come by? If we look at the sparse number of highly recruited NG's, DT's and DE's coming out of high school it would imply the opposite.
