If Mark Sanchez starts the season next year, do you expect the coaches to implement any new plays or formations to take advantage of his mobility?
Do you feel the Bogus Championship Series set a precedent this last year by diluting the bowls leading up to the NC so as to prevent split national championships to validate its existence? I know, only one question, but this lead me to a second thought. When the AP pulled out of the BCS, the reason why is obvious, but how was it accomplished? Were voters such as yourself polled and a collective decision made?
You have said that the current recruiting class does not have a "wow factor," but if you factor in Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams (especially Mustain), who do not count as part of the class but are as heralded and decorated as they come, would they not be more than enough in the "wow" department to make this is stellar class? After all, isn't Mustain the most decorated player we have ever had enroll?
Scott, why does Pete Carroll no longer offer scholarships to high school kickers?
Scott,
All Trojans should beware of Greeks, particularly those bearing bad jokes. Would you please use your legendary powers of persuasion to make that chucklehead Petros follow Kwame Brown to Memphis?
SW, I joke about a lot about where you are getting your info/rumors from. You have had Coach Martin going all of over the place, and now the same with Coach Anno? So where are you getting your info from regarding these types of rumors? Fight On!

Rojo didn't really get as many touches as I had expected. Not even in kick of returns/punt returns. Was he not as good as expected? Can he make a huge impact at wide reciever like Percy Harvin.
Scott, What class will Josh Pinkard be next year, junior of senior?
Scott, why do they refer to Portsmouth as Pompey?? PS: They got screwed on hand ball in the box, I guess the Pac 10 sends their refs to England in the offseason??
Who were the visiting recruits this weekend?
Has the coaching staff ever considered playing certain players on both sides of the ball - i'm thinking of guys like cj gable, allen bradford, rojo - who might not get enough touches on the offensive side as they would like, but if they played on defense as well, then they'd get more minutes and be able to contribute in multiple ways -
I know Gable think that he can still be a good RB but he will most likely be 3rd on the depth chart coming into next season. USC's CB situation is iffy with 2 injury risks (Pinkard and Thomas) coming back to team up with Cary and Shareece. Are the coaches pushing CJ to go to the defensive side at all?
I see the RB rotation being:
1. C.J. Gable
2. Joe McKnight
3. S. Johnson
4. A. Bradford
5. Broderick Green
5. (tie) Marc Tyler
Gable, when healthy has the speed & quiks to the holes that win him the starting job. I believe if healthy last year he may have been No. 1 and that is why Moody took a hike.
If this is right I believe Green and Tyler being so far down the chart will be OK since they are still freshmen, but do you think Bradford could live with that being a junior?
Do you think Caesar would have a little less interest in the NFL if there was some kind of NCAA playoff system? PC's frustration with the current BCS format seemed to reach it's peak during the latest bowl season. I know the NFL interest is flattering and intriguing anyways, but I think Carroll would feel better about things if the Trojans could "play it off" to decide the champ.
Scott,
Why is it that 'SC has had trouble signing a marquee DT in the past few years? Is it something with how they're recruited, where they're from or something along those lines? Thanks!
HI SCOTT
It appears we will be offerring earlier than usual this year for 2009 recruits---in order to combat ucla, etc.-------but you have often warned about offerring too early, citing, in particular, Penn St. and Notre Dame----so how are we going to reconcile this out? Could you discuss this a little bit re our plans, i. e. are we going to attempt to evaluate a little more earlier, just offer to guys we are certain we want, or going to offer to guys who we think have potential, etc------how do we offer early, yet try and avoid the pitfalls that may occur with offering too early? Thanx.
Scott,
It seems that USC does not recruit any JC players now. Yes Carl was recruited this year but he seems to be the exception than the rule. Any ideas why we stopped recruiting JC? We have had success with Will Poole, I believe Lofa was also JC
According to you, if Mitch Mustain is "better -- not just equal to -- than Sanchez," he will be the next starter. Isn't that obvious, though? If he's better, why wouldn't he be the starter? Wouldn't Pete Carroll pick the better player to start over a lesser player who doesn't provide as good of a chance for the team to win?
Scott:
Are you aware if any of the coaches, or anyone in the athletic department, have read that Seattle Times piece from when Rick Neuheisel was the Washington coach and Jerramy Stevens got away with the rape of a coed? Does that piece not draw some eerie similarities with USC's own situation with how both Eric Wright and Mark Sanchez were also arrested for raping coeds, then were somehow never charged even though there was enough evidence to charge both players?
Why do such a disproportionate number of players from Long Beach Poly turn out to have off the field problems at USC? Off the top or my head, the following Long Beach Poly players have had off the field issues the past few years: Winston Justice, Manual Wright, Vincent Joseph, Hershel Dennis. Why do the coaches keep recruiting from there since their players seem to be more trouble than they are worth?
Who has been your favorite player in the PC era?
There has been a lot of talk in various media outlets about the Seattle Times' investigation on the Washington Huskies 2000 team, including on your blog, which has raised a lot of discussion regarding incidents at other universities, including USC.
So since the Seattle Times followed through on what happened to the alleged victim of the Jerramy Steven sexual assault case, do you know what happened to the alleged victims in the Mark Sanchez and Eric Wright sexual assault cases after charges failed to be filed? Are either of them still students at USC? Have they graduated by now? I'm not asking you to give their names, but I was just wondering if you knew what happened to the alleged victims.
Thanks in advance, Scott.
Do you know of anyone, representing USC, that will be attending the memorial service for former coach, Larry Smith?
Any updates on whether Dallas Sartz will be attending the Nelson-Kalil wedding in four weeks time?
TU4USC errr aka SC in Fairfax
Why don't you just make your next post something like
"Damn I'm pissed that Sanchez wasn't charged"
that way you'd be at least honestly stating your true concern instead of this dual nickname 'roundabout' insinuation that obviously, deeply disturbs your phoney ass!
Go back to fUCLA or where ever you truly hail from and let a NON ISSUE rest. It's time to move on if you honestly give a rats ass about Trojan football.

Goliathtrojan:
You must have me mistaken with someone else. Why does it bother you that I would ask about the alleged victims of sexual assault? Do they not matter to you? If it's a matter of moving on, then why has the Seattle Times series raised so much interest in a matter from eight years ago? Why did Scott himself say that it was required reading? Let Scott answer the question and do not go throwing names around when you know nothing about me.
As opposed to you, I actually am an alumnus of USC. I am involved in matters relating to my alma mater in DC, so my best advice to you is, if the issue bothers you, address it with a substantive argument; not baseless, classless name calling.
You need to chill the hell out goliath. There is a whole lot about Sanchez that people outside the program do not know about.
Have you been following the national controversy between Conan O'Brien and Steven Colbert over who claims credit for having attributed to former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee's rise to prominence? But is it not true that the real reason Huckabee has become so prominent is not due to these two gentlemen at all but due to the "Mitch Mustain is from Arkansas" factor, so people want to jump on the Mitch bandwagon? Will Mitch's political influence on the presidential election be covered in "Mitch and Me"?
Actually Fairfax, I'm about sick to death of the constant regurgitation of BS regarding the Sanchez thing. Why not move on positively? Unless you get off on dredging up a bunch of bs that does nothing but bring down the Univ. He's a kid, he wants to represent to win, he's probably jumped through most all the hoops required and thus.. he's progressing in the program. I'm sure he made some mistakes along his road..but I personally don't give a rip about continuation of this story, especially here. As long as he was not charged, not presumed guilty and allowed to continue his situation at USC...I'm good enough with it. Congrats on your wonderful efforts in DC regarding your alumni matters...I salute that. While you were becoming a wonderful alumni, I was probably out defending your freedom and liberty to get your great education. I also obviously know less than any insider might, but that's ok too. I sure as heck dont come onto a college football blog of the team that I've followed with love and dedication and passion for over 50 years, the university that multiple family members have attended..to worry about the non issue that you and a few others who most likely just begrudge the Sanchez kid do....for most likely just that reason! Hell, there's been "sexual assault victimization" very close to my heart. I have legitimate concerns about that topic also. I just dont go onto my favorite college football blog to dredge that topic up. Why don't you use your "DC" connections as your University's rep of concern to help you deal with this subject further if it's your bag. I'm sure that you can clarify things up a whole lot better than tossing that bone that you don't seem to be able to get your teeth off of back into this venue.
Alum 78...I am chilled. I recommend you guys try it!
Fight On! I can say it, I can represent it, I can passionately back it up regardless if I was not fortunate enough to have gotten the opportunity in my youth to actually attend! I love MY Trojans..
Can you provide us with any evidence that Newheisel referred to us as Aholes in that stupid halftime pep talk on TV ?
Isn't it obvious that if Matt Cassel had started over Tom Brady, the New England Patriots would have won the Super Bowl and made history?
Goliathtrojan:
Thank you, Sir.
