About that call

Here's some quotes on the controversial foul on Jeff Pendergraph.

``I couldn't see it from where I'm sitting. If I was on the other bench, I wouldn't have liked it,'' USC coach Tim Floyd said.
``I thought it was clean. I'm getting a number of text messages from friends across the country,'' ASU coach Herb Sendek said.
``I thought I just jumped over everyone and dunked it,'' ASU forward Jeff Pendergraph said.

Saw it on TV, looked like a 50/50 call to me. Nothing like the phantom calls against SC in Temple. And, not nearly as bad as the previous play foul call on OJ when the ASU player went in for a break away lay-up. OJ did not EVEN touch the ASU player, who lost the ball out of bounds. Without that terrible call and one point from a free throw, the Pendergraph play is totally meaningless.

SC was the better team, but ASU is tough and deserves the NCAAs. Bring on the Baby Bluins!

DFW has it 100% correct. Mayo did not touch the ASU player. Gibson also was called for a foul on a clean block when he did not get near the ASU player. On the rebound dunk foul at the end, the ASU player went up and made a great play, but unfortunately Jefferson was trying to go up to rebound the ball, too, and the ASU player prevented him from getting to the ball. It's a tough call to live with when the game is on the line, but I didn't see the ASU coach looking at his cell phone for text messages from his friends about how lucky he was on the calls that went ASU's way earlier in the game.

Remember those 39 foul shots ASU took two weeks ago?

They have no reason to complain.
