Ask the QB
Pete Carroll's talked a lot about the Stanford game, but what quarterback Mark Sanchez?
He would have replaced John David Booty if Carroll changed quarterbacks after Booty broke his finger.
How did he think he would have performed?
``I think I could have been able to move the club like we did against Arizona,'' he said. ``Can I say for sure we would have won? No.
``But would I have functioned fine? Yes.''

At what point does last season become last season? This issue has been beat to death.
But I'll take the bait...As for Sanchez's comments, um, HE really didn't move the team all that well against Arizona. Indeed, it was a long run and punt return by McKnight that set up the scoring. To be fair to Sanchez, however, they didn't open up the playbook for him in his first start. If Sanchez relieved Booty in the Stanford game, the coaches probably would have called running plays for the most part.
P.S. Wolf, when do you sleep?
Stanford will be remembered and recalled for years, along with ucla 2006, and Texas 2005.
The losses hit harder than the great wins, and perhaps this is why our memories hold them more intensely.
I've said it before on here, but I'll say it again. They put Sanchez into the game at half time when they realized Booty's hand was broken, they play run to pass and we beat Stanford by 3 touches. Stanford could not stop the run. This staff focused on balance early on in the season instead of simply finding what was working and exploiting that weakness until the game was in hand. Had Pete simply managed the game that catastrophe would have never happened.
Very cautiously(personal reason) I agree with uscmike first line as well as his objectivity concerning Sánchez, again cautiously. He is correct WHY beat a dead horse? Personally as an USC FB fan I have learned to deal with this and moved on. We ALL have different views and opinions, strategies, etc. Do I/we conclude with a so what attitude? I say so what and as I said previously I moved on. I sincerely respect if you still want to keep debating the subject. WHY do that and what cost? Isn't that what brought us back to this vicious circle?
Thank you
