USC's baseball team makes its first appearance on ESPN (actually ESPN2) in three years tonight when the Trojans play Southern at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton at 8 p.m. By the way, Mike Gillespie's now 5-0 at UC Irvine.

Don't get too excited, it's his first year. Give Gillespie some time to run the program into the ground.

I was one of the people calling for him to step down at SC but that doesn't make him a bad person. He is a former SC player and gave us a lot of good years before the program went down. I'm happy that he didn't retire after leaving us. Now he has a chance to go out a winner and have pleasant memories instead of a bad taste in his mouth for the rest of his life.

Give it a rest. What's the cost of tuition for UC Irvine compared to USC. Baseball and limited number of scholarships and they split or have partial scholarships. A half scholarship would still cost a player $25K a year. Tough for a private school to compete in baseball now.
