Mayo's statement
Freshman guard O.J. Mayo said after the game that as of right now, he intends to return next season, but note the words, ``so far.'' in his quotes.
``So far, I'll be back next year. Classes-wise I'm scheduling for summer school in the next two weeks. So far, I'll be returning.''
Mayo was asked what would cause him to change his mind?
``I don't know. I think it's kind of selfish to worry about what I'm going to do next year. We had a great win
here against Stanford and we're trying to get ready for the Pac-10 Tournament.''
Just like with USC football players who consider leaving early, I always caution people to wait until after the season to see what a player thinks. This was a comment in the euphoria of the victory.

OJ Mayo exceeded my expectations and when the NBA calls he will be a huge success if he brings the same work ethic and leadership he brought to USC.

Scott, does this mean that Billy Packer may have been incorrect in his assessment of OJ Mayo,an assessment based on having witnessed OJ play exactly one game? I would venture to say that Clark Kellog, yesterday's color commentator on CBS, might have a much different opinion as to whether OJ Mayo is a great player or, "just a good player," as Packer asserted. But I do wonder what your assessment of OJ Mayo is, Scott...
