A tattoo has nothing to do with the ability to play QB. (One could perhaps argue a lack of judgment in getting a tattoo. But in today's society, a lot of people get tattoos, including a huge percentage in the NBA, NFL, etc. Ultimately, it is a personal choice.)

It looks like it belongs on a Hyundai street racer circa 1999 (NOT a compliment). That thing may even top Chad Henne's disgusting back-of-the-arm smudge tattoo. I personally like Mark, but his stock just went way down. How can I defend that thing against enemy fans? Hopefully he wears long sleeves under his pads.

There's nothing wrong with his tattoo, and there's nothing wrong with tattoos in general. The stigma of tattoos is pretty much dead in mainstream America, carried on by a small uptight, self-righteous minority (in the non-majority sense, not in the non-white sense).

I mean, come on. There are definitely people on this board who are going to hate Mark no matter what. Personally, I like Mark. I'll be rooting for him to do well because I like the fire and the fun he brings to the position. But if Mitch Mustain (or Aaron Corp, or Matt Barkley next year) beats him out, then so be it. I want the best guy for the job, and whoever that person proves himself to be, I want him behind center against Virginia next year.

Daniel Hackett got a similar tattoo before the beginning of this season, and nothing was said. Sanchez gets one and all hell breaks loose. It just shows that USC football is under the microscope 365 days per year, even when the basketball team is in the NCAA tournament.

I should have specified that Hackett's tattoos were not the source of much comment on this blog, as compared to the numerous comments about Sanchez's tatttoos.
