Tight end time

Anthony McCoy and Rhett Ellison were both given plenty of chances during Tuesday's opening practice.
``Anthony caught the ball beautifully,'' USC coach Pete Carroll said. ``Rhett was a really solid catcher as well. We need them both playing.''
Carroll added that walk-on Cooper Stephenson is the fastest of the tight ends.

Scott your thoughts on the impending QB battle and who will throw to these TE's?

MM came here because he was sick of the media circus that had been following him for 3 years at Springdale and then at Arkansas, complete with boosters, ESPN and national media attention so he came to USC to be "just one of the team"

However he isn't going to want to be the backup QB forever, he has already made comments about having enough of standing on the sidelines...if he doesn't win the starting job next year do you foresee any negative comments by him to the media? stirring dissension on the team? what if he beats out sanchez? Will sanchez hold a clipboard and cheer him on? haha...kinda doubt it..I know PC is a master of keeping people happy but this seems like a rough one. I doubt MM or MS will want to go the Matt Cassel route..

well Scott the injury train has pulled into Los Angeles already...Spicer is down with a bone "bruise" so bad it needs surgery, and heberer and brown are "injured-nondisclosed", and Butch is "slowly being worked back in" who knows if Pinkard will be back up to speed and we are at day 1 of spring ball..maybe Ryan ting can come back to play in the NC game again..

I stopped posting about injuries because no one seems to care BUT IT MIGHT BE NICE ONE YEAR IF ALL THIS TOP SHELF TALENT WAS ACTUALLY ON THE FIELD

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
