Along the line

One player we have not mentioned in spring is freshman defensive end Trey Henderson, who redshirted last season. He is being tried at defensive tackle and defensive end and this week seemed to hold his own. There's quite a bit of shuffling going on with the defensive line. USC coach Pete Carroll calls it part of the information-gathering process.
But it's also part of the post-Sedrick Ellis era. Here's something to consider: Ellis did not come off the field when the Trojans played their nickel defense. If USC played Virginia tomorrow, the nose guard (whoever it is) would go to the sideline, Kyle Moore slips inside and Clay Matthews plays end. It's a new era.

What it REALLY is, is part of the "oh !@#! Sedrick Ellis is gone and our D-line sucks now" era..

that's why they switched back to a 3-4.

Trey Henderson?? C. Tupou? Da'john Harris? ouch..has any of them even played in a game?

Nick Holt is a good coach but not a miracle worker..2 options:

hope Spicer stays healthy and has the year of his life

use the 3-4 all year
