Q: Why did the teams wear uniforms that were really similar to but not exactly the official ones? It can't be cost. I'm sure the scrimmage uniforms were pretty pricey. And why no logo on the helmet? Certainly that's not decided by cost.

A: USC wears its practice uniforms for the Coliseum scrimmage. And helmet logos are not applied until the season-opener. Every school is different. USC doesn't wear its game-day uniforms other than for games. When Paul Hackett coached at USC, the Trojans wore their game pants during practices.

Q: What is the worst behavior you ever saw ex-basketball coach Henry Bibby engage in on or off the court? Describe something positive Henry Bibby did on or off the court that might surprise people who think he is an unpleasant and petty person.

A: This question required some thought, kind of like walking into a bakery and not being able to decide which pastry or cookie to get because there are so many. I described the ``positive'' Bibby experience in Round 5.
As for ``worst behavior,'' I could write a book. So I can only give random thoughts. He tried to pull point guard Gary Johnson's scholarship so he could sign Schea Cotton. Once Cotton rebuffed USC, Johnson was allowed back and led the team in scoring. In 1997, a prominent player briefly quit the team because of a huge ethical breach by a coach to a player. The same year, a starter quit the team right before the UCLA game only to come back at the last minute and play horribly in a loss. These type of ``incidents'' often had huge effects on the teams.
A mere 10 minutes after the Elite Eight loss to Duke, he plotted a fabricated story for ESPN.com in the USC locker room that he might leave for Rutgers, just to force a raise. He also got ESPN to write he was a candidate for the Lakers job. He often pitted his assistant coaches against each other. He asked people to work his basketball camp then belatedly paid them a pittance. The day after USC upset Boston College to reach the Sweet 16, Bibby rewarded the team by taking them to Manhattan and got them dinner at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
