Any running backs transferring. You ask. We answer.

Q: Hopefully no one asked this question already, but I personally predicted a few months ago that at least one, and maybe two, runnings backs would announce they are transferring schools before fall practice. Now that spring practice is over, what is your opinion? Any of them going to leave? I can't say I blame any of them. They all can probably start elsewhere.

A: Right now I do not believe any one will transfer. Why? Because the coaches did a great job letting everyone think they will play next season by spreading the reps around liberally. C.J. Gable got a fair share, Allen Bradford got a ton and even Marc Tyler got a decent amount. So everything thinks they will play going into the season. Now I think if you went to the huddle, you saw that maybe only three guys could really play if it were an actual game. Joe McKnight gets on the field because he really would transfer if he didn't and he also plays at receiver. Broderick Green gets in for his physique. So that leaves Gable and Bradford fighting for snaps with expected starter Stafon Johnson.

There was only one bad apple out of these running backs and that apple is gone now. Time after time in every interview that one of these runnings backs does, he proclaims honestly that he's staying and loves competing. That will not change. . . EVER!!!

Are you talking about Moody? I never heard a bad thing about him, on or off the field.

Naw, not sayin he was bad on or off the field but that he wasn't a true Trojan. Wouldn't you say he gave up on SC kinda quick.

The RB position was 10 or so deep going into spring. Moody's uncle was constantly chirping thinking that there was some agenda to keep Moody of the field. He was quoted that there was more than the "competition" aspect of getting playing time. Alluding that there was some bias with competing against California guys, and that there was more than his inability to play on the field that kept him off the field. Bottom-line, he didn't want to compete. Look at where he ended up transferring to...Florida. Florida had one or tailbacks at the time and Moody knew he could get on the field there. He didn't want to compete for field time at SC, so I don't blame him for leaving. However, the thing that rubbed me wrong, was Moody and his uncle leaving and then alluding to some kind of agenda as to why he was transferring.

From what I've heard, he's been less then impressive and is #3 on the depth chart after the spring. That comes to no surprise since he left a pro-style system with a lead blocker for a spread option with no lead blocker and hell of a lot more pass protection assignments.

I hadn't heard the "agenda" talk but did hear that his uncle was very vocal during his USC recruitment, so it isn't a complete surprise. Do you have a like to any articles about it?

Sorry Trojan RAB...didn't have time to post a link to the uncle comment, but this is what I found after a little search.

"It's not just competition, man. It's more than that," Chang said. "He's competing against California guys, and there is more than his inability to play on that football field. It's just not the best fit for him right now."
