Quarterback quotes
Mark Sanchez: ``Things were more fluid. The first unit is starting to feel things better with me out there and we're in sync.’’
Mitch Mustain: ``We got away from being so structured. The stuff we did was fairly simple. I liked just being able to cut loose.’’

I think Scott's starting to see the reality of the situation. There is a big mental portion to the game, and lots of that mental portion is understanding the system and making it work for you. It's what made Leinart the best college quarterback ever to play the game and what made Booty a very fine quarterback. It just doesn't sound like Mustain gets the system yet. Today, it almost sounds like he doesn't want to.
I raised the question awhile back on this board on whether or not the current structured and scripted WCO system would pose a problem for Mustain and clearly it has by the recent comments made by both he and the coaching staff. He's clearly an old style field general QB that flourished under the complex fast paced no-huddle, spread offense and now he's learning an entirely new offensive system and most importantly, philosophy. Whether he likes it or not the current staff is not going to completely shift their offense to adapt to Mustain's style of play like Arkansas had/or tried to do. Sark and the staff are not asking him to think, but to react instinctively because they'll be calling the plays for him. From what I've seen and heard, he clearly has the skills and tools to adapt and learn the system, but its going to take time and unfortunately time is something he doesn't have if he is trying to compete for this years starting role.
With Corps skillsets, Mustain will at least be an adequate backup to Sanchez until Corp further matures in the system.
