Quote of the day
New Cal coach Mike Montgomery might have some image problems with Bears fans after coaching at Stanford for 18 years, but USC also got into the conversation at his first press conference.
``Much will be said about his longstanding ties with our rival, Stanford,'' Cal athletic director Sandy Barbour said. ``Frankly, I am far more concerned with the fact that his daughter (Anne) played volleyball at USC than I am him having a minor affiliation with that school across the Bay."

Are Cal people paranoid about SC or what?
No kidding. I hate Cal. Cal sucks and UCLA swallows. For some reason, I like Stanford better. Stanford, Harbaugh excluded, just seems to be classier. Cal is in disgusting Berkeley/Oakland, and just has a nasty SC envy complex. Plus, their reputation as liberal hippy tree huggers is LITERAL....they have liberal hippies living in trees hugging them all day long. I HATE Cal, but respect Montgomery, and the PAC-10 just gets tougher. But, I suspect that it will be more of Cal beating up on Stanford, with neither gaining a dominant position against Floyd and Howland. I also obviously HATE FUCLA, but may I say, that out of all UCLA coaches in recent memory, I have tremendous respect for Howland and do believe that the Floyd-Howland era could produce a UNC-Duke kind of rivalry a few years down the road.
Jealous much?
Losers...
