Mr. Mustain:
Get used to it or transfer. SEC South Carolina can use you. Had you gone there your chances of being the starting QB this season would have been great. If that isn't enough coach Steve Spurrier is regarded as one of the best offensive minds as well as a great QB guru. good luck young man.
got a news flash for ya Mitch..
YOUR GOING TO BE THE BACKUP
PC & crew only care about "Experience in the system" and "who can make the least mistakes" and "no hesitation"
Unless your go 50 for 50 with 99 TD passes and 499 yds. passing in spring ball next year...expect to be holding that clipboard in 2009 also.
2010? who knows...matt barkley will be ready to go then...and Corp...
What are you thoughts on Northern Iowa?
yeppers Mitch..we are stuck with "oh crap I just blew the oregon game" Sanchez for 2 more years..the WR's corps already hates him and our O-line sucks it's gonna be a long year.
Maybe if Mustain was as good as everyone on this blog thinks he is, he wouldn't have to worry about being a backup. If you want to compete you are in the right place, if you think just because you stumbled your way to 8 wins by jumping on the back of Darren McFadden that you deserve to immediately start at USC, go somewhere else.
Who do the wide receivers hate?
Trojan RAB I will give ya the full story your a good poster...
At the Oregon game last year, Sanchez threw that INT down around the Oregon 20 yd. line....on the USC sideline he went to the WR's...Turner, Hazelton, Fred Davis. Ausberry all sitting together on the bench..etc..and said :
"my bad! my bad!! come one let' snot give up!!!"
To which the WR's as a group said:
"go Fu*k yourself"
I read this on Scott's blog and did not believe it, but then I saw it happen on TV, on Trojan Rewind
god I hate this website
OK Trojan RAB
Either Watch the Oregon game from last year, talk to hazelton, or watch "trojan rewind" from the 2007 USC oregon game
Bonehead Sanchez threw the INT that cost us the game..he went over the bench where the USC Wr's were..turner, hazelton, ausberry..etc..And said :
"my bad! my bad!! come on now we can still win"
to which the WR's replied:
"get that shit out of here!!"
If Mustain can complete 50 passes with 99 of them going for touchdowns, he should be the starter no matter what.
El Capitan is as stupid as ever. No surprise.
Pete Carroll said that Sanchez would be the starter "if there was a game on Saturday" and that the competition would resume in the fall.
Well, there was no game on Saturday, only a scrimmage. So what did Sanchez do? He LOST. He damn well lost. He lost the game. He made an ass of himself. Threw an interception straight to Brown. There was no one else around. Same problems that Sanchez has always had.
Sanchez had his chance and he blew it.
Who knows if Sanchez will be the starter against Virginia? He may very well start that game. But how many people really believe that he will still be starting by the end of the season? He is the starter "for now," not the permanent starter.
Sanchez blew it. He had a golden opportunity and he lost.
MBTrojan,
You are stunningly off-base in your assessment of Sanchez's performance at the Huddle.
That blown flea-flicker play was Sanchez's *only* botched play of the scrimmage. Otherwise, we went through his progressions, frequently checking down to second and third receivers. He even threw the ball away once, when nothing was there. Like a pro. That bomb to RoJo was a thing of beauty, and a play we've sorely missed the last two seasons.
Sanchez was athletic, accurate and sharp. His stats were rock solid.
Corp also looked great -- and "won" the scrimmage -- against the second and third team D. With the exception of Chris Galippo, it was a radically different world out there, btw the first team and second team D's. Corp's got a bright future, though, no doubt. And has a legit shot at beating out Barkley, maybe even Mustain.
Mitch Mustain looked the weakest of the three quarterbacks on Saturday. Certainly doesn't give me any pleasure to "say" this, but it's the truth. He's still struggling to acclimate to the system.
Notice how the coaches moved him, midway through, to the second string?

So which is it RickyIrvins?
Did the receivers -- in unison apparently, as a unit -- say "go Fu*k yourself"? Or "get that shit out of here!!"?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt, do you suppose that the receivers were, in that moment, disappointed? I'll certainly grant you that. But did that present their definitive judgment of Mark as a quarterback? If you are convinced of this, you're losing it.
It's great that you can make such definitive assessments about the mood of the team up there in Detroit.
*Most* of your posts here are similarly pessimistic. Why is that?
It would be quite unusual for a group of men to state something in unison such as was suggested above regarding the ends and Sanchez; might have been one guy sassing Sanchez. Also, don't forget that prior to that interception Sanchez led a beautiful drive that got SC to within a score of tying, and there was that terrible fumble earlier in the game that gave Oregon a t.d. Also, as we continually remind, Oregon let up in that game; Dixon was going to beat us that day no matter what, I believe.
It seems most Trojans not on this blog think the team will be fine this year. 85% believe SC will have 0 to 2 losses, with 1/3 believing the team will be undefeated and win the national title. Why aren't some of these people posting on this blog?
I was at the scrimmage on Saturday. I think Sanchez actually did a pretty good job. The one int that he threw was on a stupid flea flicker play that broke down and he just threw the ball right at Luther Brown. It was a gimmick play that obviously should be taken out of the playbook. Other than that he played pretty solid. Aaron Corp also looked pretty good. Mitch Mustain, not so much.
Mustain's quote just proves he intends to keep competing for the job, not that he expects anything to be handed to him. That's exactly what I want to hear from anyone who wants to play for USC.
Whoever can lead the team to victory should be starting, and I'll leave it to PC and Sark to figure that out... and change things if need be. Meanwhile, those of you who have man-crushes for Sanchez OR Mustain should realize you don't have to attack the other guy. They both play for the same team... the team you supposedly support.
From what I heard Mustain was goaded into giving that answer.
MB, Sanchez blew nothing. The INT was on an experimental fleaflicker, and he was up against the first team on defense, when the second team would be starters anywhere else in the nation.
