Turn out the lights . . .
For two weeks I resisted the constant temptation to say the quarterback competition was a charade although anyone who reads this blog probably figured out what direction the ``derby'' was taking. But it seems foolish to act like anything is up for grabs right now as Mark Sanchez clearly is the No. 1 quarterback.
Here's some facts for those following this race:
Sanchez got six series with the first team during Sunday's scrimmage. Mitch Mustain got two.
Sanchez practiced exclusively with the first team Tuesday. Mustain split time with Aaron Corp with the second team.
Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian said he did not anticipate giving Mustain more time with the first team during USC's next scrimmage on Saturday.
We will wait for the official word from Pete Carroll, of course. When (not who) he announces the starter is the only mystery left right now.

Yes! This must mean Mark has mastered the bubble screen.
I have an idea. How about we enroll Brennan Carroll into a class, and have him enter the QB rotation. He was throwing some bullets at the walk-on try-outs. He is already "experienced" in the system.
Well, I'm glad that's over.
So where's mustain going? Northern Iowa? Some other D-II school? New Mexico St.? Maybe he can hang with Rocky Hinds in Vegas...
It seemed pretty obvious to me that Mitch either thought he was going to win the job this year or it would be very close and he would get some significant PT ..the whole thing was kind of a sham as Sanchez was always going to be the starter.
Right now MM is probably a little angry, and is already being asked "do you regret transferring to USC?" How long do you think the #1 QB in his class is going to stand on the sidelines and watch Sanchez running around making a fool of himself on the field? PC won't allow any QB controversy, so...let's start the betting.
$20 says he goes to UNLV
Loco...if he hasn't he will soon sice Sark calls 32 of those per game...JDB can throw it with his eyes closed..
