Answer Friday, Part IX

A basketball question!

Q: For the basketball team, what is the starting lineup looking like will this team me more balanced? Also, will Tim Floyd recruit players who will stay at least two years?

A: Taj Gibson, Leonard Washington, DeMar Derozan, Daniel Hackett and Dwight Lewis would be one starting lineup. Keith Wilkinson will back up the forwards with the very raw Mamadou Diarra and Donte Smith will be at the point along with Angelo Johnson.

Q: Will USC ever run a two quarterback system, the last two BCS Champions had two quarterbacks, one pocket passer and one runner. Three if you count, Texas with superstar Vince Young, he was a passer and (ask Darnell Bing, Dallas Startz and the other Trojans) a runner.LSU used Ryan Perriloux and Matt Flynn and Florida used Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. Even the Arizona Cardinal used Warner and Leinart together for a time. Sanchez( athletic ) can be supported by both Mustain( accurate passer) and/or Crop(runner). Think about all the formations for USC, other defenses cannot handle all the plays and the quarterbacks. So will USC follow the pattern?

A: Pete Carroll and Steve Sarkisian do not like alternating quarterbacks. Now if Corp might come in to run a play to use his speed, that's possible. But it will not be a 50-50 proposition

No Bow Wow? He should have leveraged himself a starting spot.

MARK is the starting QB with a much stronger arm. How do you know MM is an accurate passer? He got benched in favor of Casey Dick in Arkansas. 10 TD's and 8 INT's is NOT exactly a reflection of an accurate passer. In order for a QB to be considered an accurate passer he must throw 2 TD's for every INT. Take time to calculate the QBR and you'll confirm my statement. BTW LSU HC Les Miles kicked out Ryan Perriloux of the team after being given too many chances. Check espn.go.com and you'll read WHY. OK?

OK?

Yeah, but last season didn't Sanchez throw 7 TDs to 5 INTs? So Sanchez sucks and is not an accurate passer.

Mark played in THREE games in relief of JDB. MM was Arkansas starting QB a job he lost despite playing against lousy opposition. Keep in mind that MM only beat ONE decent team Auburn. May I also remind you he had McFadden and Felix Jones as well and one great OT named Tony Ugoh, a starting OT for Peyton Manning>Hello?
Obviously you selectively decided NOT to check the link but to continue your MS bashing BS. My comparison is objective and supported with facts.
Thank you

That's true, Sanchez's stats were far worse than Mustain's. Plus, Sanchez had been in the program for THREE YEARS at that point and stunk up the joint. THREE YEARS in the program! He lost the Oregon game for us with that interception into triple coverage that cost us a chance to go to the BCS game. That game permanently benched him and it may be a foreshadowing of what is to come next year. Sanchez was benched once and if he gets benched again, it's game over for him.

Thank you.

JDB lost the game to Stanford something PC clearly admitted. Don't put the blame on Mark. WHY don't you be man and objective enough to admit you don't care for Sánchez? Better yet say you don't care for Sánchez being USC starting QB. You threw stats way too loose. There is NO way in FB terms that you are going to convince anyone three games VS eight and expect a fair judgment. Have you ever calculated the QBR? A couple of Sánchez' INT's happened during washout games meaning he was cold.

The TD/INT ratio for Sanchez as a third year player is worse than what Mustain's was as a true freshman.

The opponents that Sanchez beat were:

Arizona - one of the worst teams in the country. The game was won because of Joe McKnight and the running game, not Sanchez.

Notre Dame - worst college football team in about 20 years. Even Navy ended their 42 year losing streak against ND in 2007. A seven year old could have beaten ND in 2007. Sanchez still got rattled and called two TOs in the first 2 minutes.

If Sanchez was still having these same interception and turnover problems after three years in the program, not to mention that the playbook had to be reduced due to his lack of knowledge, then he clearly is not a very good QB. Lack of experience is not an issue if you have been in the program for three years. Leinart and Palmer were younger when they each started and played far better.

The Oregon loss was solely on Sanchez's shoulders. Even the WRs said so right to his face after he threw the interception that ended the game. Sanchez was clearly rattled during the game and the Oregon crowd shouting "Rapist" and other very vile things got to him quite easily.

If Sanchez does happen to still be the starter by the Virginia game (and I honestly do not know if he will), I am not so sure he will still be the starter by the end of the season.

What I am saying is objective. I have no horse -- Sanchez or Mustain -- in this race. The stats show that Sanchez had a worse TD/INT ratio as a third year player than Mustain had as a true freshman and their winning records favor Mustain, too. Heck, Mustain even beat the No. 2 team in the country on the road, while Sanchez has beaten no one with even a winning record; only bottom feeders.

Facts are facts. Sanchez's stats from 2007 are worse than Mustain's in 2006.

I think I've mentioned before that I am a huge Mark Sanchez fan.

My comment was about the basketball question and how Percey "Lil' Bow Wow" Miller wouldn't be breaking the starting rotation next year.

I won't quibble with your stats. However, I don't necessarily agree with your game recaps.

I don't think you can put the Oregon loss solely on Sanchez. Havili's fumble gave Oregon fantastic field position for an easy TD. We had a TD run nullified by a holding penalty. Sark's crappy 4th and 1 call, after Pete didn't try a FG. Plus, Dixon and Stewart played well. And while Sanchez may have thrown the fateful (and, yes, horrible) pick, on the previous drive, he marched USC right down the field for a quick TD to get USC back in the game in the 4th Qr. That was when Sark opened up the playbook somewhat.

As for the Arizona game, he at least showed charisma and leadership, the ability to avoid a sack and run for a 1st down (unlike JDB). (Although he needed to tuck the ball better.) Plus, the coaches severly limited his opportunities in his first start.

As for Notre Dame, it was the biggest shutout in USC-ND history, right? He played well. Give him credit. I do agree that a 7th grader could beat ND, although fUCLA couldn't.

I hope Sanchez plays well.

Fight On!
